The Mexican national wanted in the killing execution of his five neighbors is still at large more than 24 hours later. He “could be anywhere” by now.

Oropeza is accused of killing his five neighbors, including an 8-year-old child, in the 100 block of Walters Road Trails End Cleveland, Texas.

At the most recent press conference, held on Saturday evening, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said that the FBI will be providing all future updates.

Capers said investigators had increased the search area from 5-6 square miles to 10-20 square miles depending on whether Capers crossed the border or not. The Texas Department of Corrections sent tracking dogs to pick up the scent of his items, but they lost it when the dog jumped into the water.

The deceased victims have been identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Daniel Enrique Laso Guzman, 8; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18. Capers detailed how the suspect was known to shoot his AR-15 Style 223 outside his home, as evidenced by the number of shell casings in the yard.

On the night of the massacre, Oropeza allegedly did so again before midnight, prompting a next-door neighbor to step outside and explain how people were trying to get an infant to bed.

The sheriff reported that the suspect had said “It is his property.” He is free to do whatever he likes on his own property. ”

The man went into the house. “Capers said: “Next thing, they know he walks out of the house with a rifle.”

According to the sheriff, Oropeza is a Mexican man. He was identified from video footage showing him knocking on his neighbor’s front door and a card issued by the Mexican consulate.

The suspect entered the house and killed five people. Capers reported that another five victims did not suffer any injuries.

According to the sheriff, two women were found lying on top of three children that survived. They were “covered in blood” and taken to the hospital.

Wilson Garcia, a survivor who reportedly owns the home where the shooting unfolded, told KTRK he was the one who stepped outside because his 1-month-old was trying to sleep.

“We had guests over, and a man came out shooting while we prepared food. Garcia said, via translation, that they told him to stay quiet because his baby was scared. Oropeza remembered that he planned to call the cops, but before he could, the suspect shot Sonia outside the front door.

“I never thought that he would shoot. Then he went room to room, looking for people,” Garcia said. “He couldn’t catch up to me. The bullets were hitting (everywhere).”

James Smith, FBI Houston Field Office’s Special Agent in Charge, told reporters that the FBI would remain until they were no longer needed, which included when this subject was arrested. “We believe he’s dangerous and armed. We will not stop until we arrest him and bring him into custody. ”
