Illinois Man Convicted of Murdering Girl He Lured Into His Home With Disney Cups

A man from Illinois was sentenced to 50 years for brutally killing a 17-year-old girl he had lured into his home with Disney cups.

Arthur Jensen was found guilty of two counts in March of first-degree homicide. In Iroquois County Circuit Court on Monday, Judge Michael Sabol gave Jensen 50 years for strangling Adara Bunn to death on August 5, 2019. Jensen received credit for three years he had already spent in jail.

Bunn and her mother reportedly visited Jensen’s trailer house three days before Bunn’s murder. Bunn, a Disney collector, bought some cups featuring themes from Disney’s animated film “Pocahontas.”

Bunn went to Jensen’s house a day before she was murdered to check if there were any Disney memorabilia left.

Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Quinlan told People magazine that Jensen’s wife was out of town at her high school reunion. Jensen – who was packing up items with a friend – told Bunn to come back to his house “tomorrow” to purchase similar Disney cups, according to the Daily Journal.

Bunn showed up at Jensen’s home the next day to buy Disney glasses, and Jensen strangled her to death. Neighbors heard female screams coming from Jensen’s home and notified the police, according to WCIA.

Jensen made a chilling confession to the responding officers when they arrived at his home. “There was a girl in there, and I strangled her.” The police found Bunn’s dead body in the house, and Jensen was arrested on the spot.

Quinlan said, “This is the worst murder case I’ve ever seen.”

“Adara had a bright future,” Quinlan said that the girl was about to start her junior year. She was an A-student who hoped to become a vet.

Bunn, also known as “Sissy,” enjoyed reading, fishing, and school, among other things, according to her obituary.

Milford Area Public Schools said that the community was grieving over the tragic death of a high school student yesterday.

In a press release, the school stated that “we are all suffering from this loss as a community, staff, and students.” Please keep the family of this student in your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.
