Oprah’s Commencement Speech Tackles Every Woke Issue

Oprah Winfrey, the billionaire media mogul, gave a commencement address at the Tennessee State University on Saturday. She outlined all the perceived problems that plague the country in the eyes of the progressive left.

She encouraged graduates to go out in the world to address various issues, such as climate change, racism systemic, police brutality and gun violence, voting, women’s and children’s rights, and banned books.

Winfrey accused Republicans of holding up the debt ceiling and slammed a conservative majority for “corrupting” the Supreme Court. She then claimed that the LGBT+ community is “under attack.”

Winfrey said, “The Cold War has returned.”

She spoke about police brutality and said, “I have been thinking about how much time you’ve already spent dealing with the complex issues of today because this is the generation who are forced to rely on body cameras to get justice.”

She continued, “And yet, even when accountability is present, it can be difficult to achieve, as we have seen time and again.”

Winfrey said that women’s and voting rights were “gutted” and “dismantled.” She also said that “books were being banned and history was being rewritten.”

She said that the leaders were “behaving as children” and that “children have been shot to death by assault rifles of military grade.”

Winfrey called out those who participated in the protests at the Capitol on January 6, calling their actions the “death of civility”.

In the same breath, she seemed to praise the Tennessee Democratic legislators Justin Jones, and Justin Pearson who were expelled from the state last month after encouraging a disruptive demonstration that stopped the House floor proceedings in that state Capitol. Winfrey praised the lawmakers for “building on the legacy of giants, mentors of mine like John Lewis”, referring to the civil rights leader and former Democratic U.S. representative for Georgia in the 1960s.

She told the graduates, “We live in a world where there are more than enough things wrong to keep us busy for the rest of our lives trying to fix them.” You’ll meet people who insist it’s impossible to make a real difference. “But I think Tennessee has Justins who live just a few minutes away from here and would respectfully disagree.”

Winfrey concluded her speech by encouraging graduates to “dream large” and “be audacious thinkers.”
