DOJ Should Release FBI Doc Alleging Biden Bribery Scheme To Congress

Published on

William Barr, former Attorney General of the United States, suggests that Merrick Garland release the FBI produced FD-1023 document – alleging a criminal bribery plot involving President Joe Biden – to Republican legislators if necessary steps are taken in order to protect the safety and life of the confidential source.

Barr’s suggestion comes in the wake of an outcry about the Justice Department not being impartial with regard to investigations into former President Donald Trump and family Biden.

Barr stated in an exclusive interview to Fox News Digital that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s unprecedented indictment against Trump for mishandling classified documents “understandably” sparked anger over a ‘double standard.

Barr said, “I believe AG Garland should act quickly and take concrete steps to resolve it.”

Barr said that “the public must be assured that both the investigations pending about the Bidens, the investigation into mishandling classified material as well as the Delaware-wider one – will be pursued with the exact same rigor and diligence” as the case against Trump.

Barr said that this assurance was “especially necessary now due to recent reports indicating an FBI whistleblower may be suggesting some shenanigans aimed at undermining Delaware’s investigation”, he said.

David Weiss, U.S. attorney, has been conducting an investigation for more than four years into the possible criminal business dealings of the son of the president, Hunter Biden.

These reports are very alarming, especially in light of the slowness of that investigation. “Chairman Comer and other senators are working to find the truth,” he stated.

Fox News Digital reported this month that FD-1023 contained allegations that Joe Biden received $5 million from an executive at the Ukrainian natural-gas firm Burisma Holdings where his son Hunter Biden sat as a board member, in a bribery plan that involved influencing U.S. policies decisions.

The FBI document, dated 30 June 2020, is an interview conducted by the FBI with a confidential source “highly credible” who described multiple meetings and conversations that he or she held with a Burisma executive starting in 2015.

The FBI let the House Oversight Committee review the document earlier this month with redactions. Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) had threatened to hold FBI director Christopher Wray in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena to provide the document.

The House Republicans continue to demand that the FBI release this document. Last week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Congress still lacks a complete picture of what the document actually says.

Barr said: “Under the circumstances, I believe the AG should seriously consider providing the 1023 report that Chairman Comer and his Senate supporters have been requesting, subject to the terms necessary to protect a confidential source’s life and safety.”

Barr told Fox News previously that the FD-1023 was reviewed during his tenure by U.S. attorney Scott Brady in Pittsburgh and his team as part of a screening procedure to determine the accuracy or relevance of the information.

Barr stated that there was “no indication” of the FD-1023 being disinformation. The case was then sent to U.S. attorney Weiss, who is a Trump appointee in Delaware and has been working on a Hunter Biden-focused investigation.

Barr told Fox News Digital that “it’s murky” but “it seems the whistleblower suggests someone at FBI Headquarters tried to brush aside the same or comparable allegations covered in 1023.”

“I understand that DOJ’s policy is to not share these raw reports. This is for a good reason. Barr stated that any FBI director would have been hesitant to turn it over. I believe he tried his best in order to accommodate Chairman Comer.

“But ultimately, the AG should decide how far to take this because of the unique circumstances and the need for weighing and balancing the public interest involved.” He said that there might be certain factors in this case which call for restrictions but the overall situation justifies moving forward.

Barr said that “some of the same people on the Hill have done the country great service by investigating and exposing false Russian collusion allegations in 2017 and beyond.”

They got it right first – even before the DOJ. He said that letting them look at it could be beneficial, so long as we ensure the safety of our source.
