After the DOJ filed charges against Donald Trump for mishandling classified materials, conspiracy, and obstruction, the hot take started to flow. Conservatives were right to criticize the Biden administration for its clear political motivations in pursuing a major political rival.
On the other side, there was jubilation. On MSNBC and CNN, large panels of comedians lauded the greatness of Jack Smith as special counsel. Democrats bragged about “nobody is above the laws.”
Hillary Clinton was the next. This may be the most shameless act I have ever witnessed in politics. This is truly Hall of Fame material.
Bringing this back in light of recent news:

It’s difficult to know where to begin. This twice-failed candidate for president is trying to raise money off of the indictment against a political rival. What would she do differently if she was trying to prove that we live in a “banana republic”? She’s also bragging that she was able to get away with a crime for which she should have been prosecuted and jailed. No one is afraid of being held accountable. It’s grotesque.
For those who have short memories, Hillary Clinton had everything under control in 2016, when details about her private email server were revealed. She removed classified markings from government documents and uploaded them onto her personal server in the bathroom. Then, when caught, she attempted to destroy the evidence sought by the FBI. Remember “bleach bit?”
Since the Espionage Act was passed, there has never been an open and shut case. She was not charged because the FBI Director at that time refused to do so. James Comey literally rewrote the statute to suggest that “no reasonable prosecutor would pursue the case” in real-time. It was a lie from the beginning, and it is still a falsehood today.
It’s important to keep in mind why Trump’s latest arrest is so shocking. Jack Smith’s case is not weak. The details of the indictment, as much as I dislike to admit it and many people will not want to accept them, are very serious. Trump will almost certainly be convicted unless there is a last-minute twist. He shouldn’t, because the DOJ and FBI have let multiple high-level Democrats off for similar crimes.
Either we have a justice system that treats all politicians equally, or we do not. It is inexcusable that the DOJ decided to bring this Trump indictment to a head during an election to maximize chaos and damage Republican chances of beating Joe Biden. This can only be fixed by tearing down these institutions and setting them on fire. To achieve this, the GOP needs to regain power.
