Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been given the cold shoulder by his Democratic colleagues when it comes to his safety. The Biden administration denied him secret service protection despite his request months ago.
According to a Tweet by RFK Jr., he had requested USSS protection 88 days ago, but the Bidens have not responded. He notes that the usual response to such a request is within a few weeks. However, after a long delay, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas determined Kennedy didn’t require the protection.
Since 1968, when my father was assassinated, all candidates for the presidency receive Secret Service protection. But not me.
The typical turnaround time for presidential candidate protection requests is 14 days. The Biden Administration denied our request after 88 days of no response. After several follow-ups from our campaign and despite a lack of communication for 88 days, we repeatedly asked the administration to respond. Secretary Mayorkas said: “I’ve determined that Secret Service Protection for Robert F Kennedy Jr. is not warranted right now.”
ABC states that a candidate for protection must meet certain criteria.
It’s true that despite Kennedy checking off some of the boxes, we are too far away for these criteria to be relevant. However, there can be exceptions.
Raw Story claims that Kennedy, whom they had first described as a conspiracist, doesn’t qualify for USSS protection because he does not meet the criteria. They call his request “historically illiterate.”
Michael Scherer, a Washington Post writer, writes that “Presidential Candidates generally do not get USSS protection before the year of election and only if they are likely nominees.” “Obama made an exception in May 2007. DHS and a group of congressional leaders make the decision.”
Kennedy points out that he, too, had received valid and worrying threats…pages upon pages.
Biden is the DNC’s nominee. They even canceled debates in order to make this clear. This should be a source of concern for every Democrat voter. The DNC is saying that the voters have no choice. You can take Biden and enjoy it. Kennedy doesn’t seem to be worth USSS protection because he won’t matter in the end. He won’t be a candidate.
Hunter Biden is a “private citizen”, but he gets taxpayer-funded protection in a six-car motorcade with USSS.
Hunter Biden has an entire squad of agents to go around, but a popular Democrat can’t? This situation does not look good for the Bidens, but it doesn’t matter much when every government agency and alphabet network is working around the clock to make them look good.
