A teenager was found guilty of attempted capital murder for shooting and wounding three people in a Texas high school.
On Thursday, a jury in Tarrant County found Timothy Simpkins to be guilty.
The charges are related to an altercation that took place when Simpkins, then 18, was a student at Timberview High School Arlington.
Simpkins pulled a.45 caliber handgun and fired during a fight between him and Zac Selby, a 15-year-old student.
Selby was critically injured by the gunfire. A teacher and a student were also injured by bullets. A pregnant teacher was also injured in the chaos that followed.
Simpkins fled the scene after that in a silver Dodge Charger 2018.
Simpkins surrendered himself after an hour-long manhunt. Arlington police released Simpkins once he had posted a bond of $75,000
According to local media, the jury took nine hours to decide on the guilty verdict.
Simpkins’s family said he was acting in self-defense because Selby bullied him. But Selby’s parents have refuted this claim.

Kathy Selby, grandmother of the victim stated: “We have seen the video.” “We were shocked when we saw the video because we had never seen him in that way before. I’ve never even seen him fight his sister or older brother. He’s a soft-spoken, mild-mannered child.”
