Trump Blasts Biden’s ‘Out-of-Touch’ Auto Policies

Published on

Former President Donald Trump released a new campaign ad on Thursday, slamming President Biden’s auto policies. He accused his administration of spending “billions” of taxpayer dollars to subsidize electric cars for the rich.

Trump addressed the camera directly:

Joe Biden is waging war on the US auto industry with a series of crippling mandates designed to force Americans into expensive electric cars. That’s just what you want [sarcasm].

Thousands of electric cars pile up on lots, unsold. This absurd Green New Deal campaign is driving up car prices and destroying American auto production.

Many consumers do not want to buy an electric vehicle for a variety of reasons, including: “range anxiety, time required to recharge, power outage or grid concerns, lack of service providers for repairs and maintenance, and inadequate performance at extreme temperatures.”

Watch:

Trump continued to attack Biden’s extreme policies in the approximately 3-minute-long clip, noting that many families could not afford an electric vehicle even if they desired one.

These extreme leftist policies are a disaster to families and consumers, and one of the major reasons why the average price of a new vehicle is now more than $50,000 [true].

It’s outrageous and has never been this expensive before. The prices are outrageous, despite the fact Biden spends billions upon billions of dollars on subsidizing electric vehicles for wealthy people. Normal Americans cannot afford one and don’t want to.

Trump made a direct appeal to UAW workers, specifically calling on laborers from several key battleground states, including Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, as well as the Carolinas, to support his presidential campaign in 2024.

I hope United Auto Workers listens to me because I think that you should endorse Trump because I will grow your business, and they will destroy your business. They are destroying your business.

He also spoke about trade agreements such as NAFTA, TPP, and his own trade policies that were better for manufacturing than Biden. He ended with a pitch.

If you want an auto industry you have to defeat Joe Biden, a corrupt President. And re-elect Donald Trump.

As my colleague Nick Arama has reported, Biden was also bumbling, stumbling, and flailing around a shipyard promoting “Bidenomics”. He tried to make his own pitch, but that didn’t work out. He said, “[Billionaires] did not build the middle class; they did not build America.” “The middle class was built by middle-class people.” “And the unions built up the middle class.”

What? Kamala Harris is writing speeches for him now?

Then he went on to boast about the wind farms that were planned for the Gulf of Mexico. I would be surprised if this news sparked a lot of excitement among shipyard workers.

Biden’s government seemed to confirm Trump’s claim that his policies hurt the small guy late Thursday afternoon as the Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management released new regulations and increased fees for oil producers. Holly Hopkins, vice president of the American Petroleum Institute, said:

This action by the Department of the Interior, in the midst of a global energy crisis, is just another attempt to increase barriers to future energy production. It increases uncertainty for the producers and could further discourage investment in oil and gas.

This is a worrying approach from an Administration that has repeatedly restricted essential energy development.

Biden’s auto and energy policies are a disaster for middle-class Americans and “normal Americans”. As we have seen, the majority of major unions continue to blindly support anyone with a “D”, even when that is not in their workers’ best interest. It’s a pity.
