DeSantis Takes Aim at Global Elites: ‘We Win, They Lose’

Ron DeSantis, the Republican presidential candidate who is running against Donald Trump in 2018, has been struggling to get his campaign going. But that could change after he released an explosive economic plan on Monday that promises that “our policies will no longer be dictated by the ruling class.”

The Florida Governor’s National Agenda, billed as a “Declaration of Economic Independence”, takes on Washington swamp, illegal migration, and fentanyl along our chaotic southern border. It also tackles the Chinese Communist Party and economic malaise.

DeSantis’ agenda includes the statement “We want to become a country where things are made” and “where a parent can raise their children on one income.”

The following is what we will do:

The failed elites who have orchestrated the American decline

The excessive federal spending which has led to inflation and brought our country to the edge of bankruptcy;

The Chinese Communist Party has been running circles around us for a generation.

Central planners want to advance their political agendas by sacrificing the standard of living of the average American.

The Green New Deal is a destructive policy that aims to undermine our domestic energy production.

A class of progressive corporations that look out for their own interests, but not those of the American public.

The Swamp will not like the governor’s pledge to “use his Article II power to prohibit federal grant to entities who engage in active discrimination by DEI or other non-constitutional initiatives”, and to restore Clinton/Gingrich’s “work requirements for benefit programs.”

The public education system is not safe either, as the government has promised to “support school choice in all 50 states, protect parental rights, reform accreditation and direct funding towards programs that will support future jobs.”

The agenda declares war against so-called ESG Corporate Governance, promising “there will be no ideology litmus test to get a loan, establish a bank or run a business” and that, as president, DeSantis “will instruct the DOJ Civil Rights Division, and relevant agencies, to root out racism under the false guise of diversity, equality, and inclusion.”

TL;DR – Reaganesque in boldness. Especially the tagline “We Win, They Lose” which is how Ronald Reagan summarized his Cold War Foreign Policy. Our most threatening enemies of freedom are still in Washington, more than 40 years after the Cold War ended. The announcement on Monday acknowledges this sad truth in many ways.

DeSantis’ support has dwindled compared to Donald Trump’s as he began his campaign with an anti-woke agenda. Although it is paying dividends in Florida this issue is largely local and state-specific. He and his campaign seem to have forgotten that DeSantis was running for President of America, not Governor. Americans vote with their wallets, not on whether they want a left-wing university to be reformed or a corporation to lose special tax privileges in a state.

Does Monday’s big announcement suffice to restart the DeSantis Campaign? No, not at all. DeSantis, however, is trying to shift the conversation, albeit late, in a way that’s more suitable for a presidential campaign. It could be too late to reveal the agenda, but it will be interesting to see what DeSantis says during the first GOP debate hosted by Fox News on August 23, in Milwaukee.

Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will moderate the debate.
