Are Republicans closer to impeaching Joe Biden as president? Right-wingers have speculated a lot about this possibility. After a barrage of politically-motivated indictments against former President Donald Trump, members of the conservative base seem to be ready for the shoe to be placed on the other foot for a change.
In an opinion piece published on Friday, Rep. Jeff Duncan gave Republican voters a reason to be hopeful. The lawmaker wrote that many of his constituents wanted to see Biden impeached in the article:
I’ve received numerous questions from South Carolina Third District regarding impeachment procedures against Joe Biden. My constituents, and the entire United States, deserve an honest explanation of how House Republicans intend to hold the Biden Administration accountable. House Republicans have so far held 565 hearings on oversight, forced 561 Biden administration officials to testify, and issued a total of 45 subpoenas.
The Biden Crime family and abuses of government are so numerous that Republicans in the House have built a case against impeachment by using 4 committees: Homeland Security; Ways & Means; Oversight & Accountability and Judiciary.
Duncan went on to list the four major issues Republicans are considering for an impeachment attempt. He explained that the “Homeland Security Committee” is focused on Joe Biden for allowing invasions at our southern border, where more than 5.5 million border crossings occurred illegally since Biden assumed office. The lawmaker stressed that the White House must answer why the cartel controls our southwest border, and why fentanyl freely flows across our borders causing countless death here in America.
Then he moved on to the “two-tiered justice system” at the IRS and Justice Department, which has shielded Hunter Biden from scrutiny and any legal consequences. He said that the committee would seek to stop “preferential treatment” for those in the ruling class.
Duncan brought up allegations of the Bidens’ shady dealings with foreign entities. “They are following the money trail to see where it leads to and from in relation to the Biden Crime Family and their foreign connections–otherwise known as the Chinese Communist Party,” he wrote.
Duncan also mentioned Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who is working to expose the “weaponization of the FBI and DOJ”, while putting an end to “Biden’s censorship of Americans.”
The right-wingers are all for it. Will Republicans follow through on their promises? Signs seem to indicate that they will eventually. The Biden bribery case, these four issues, and the other three have created enough smoke for us to determine if there is fire. At least some Republicans are aware that they must go on the offense at some point to have a chance of avoiding being annihilated in the 2024 elections.
Republicans are taking a big risk by impeaching Trump. This will bring the country into more political drama. But Democrats have already been doing this with the politically-motivated indictments they have levied against Trump. Republicans are in desperate need of any counter-narrative they can find. The Biden family has generously provided them with a lot of ammunition.
Republicans wouldn’t impeach Biden, because they expect to remove him. Democrats will almost certainly vote to convict unless my conspiracy theory turns out to be true. This does not mean that Republicans will not have done significant political damage, depending on the results of their investigations and hearings. If the GOP is able to play its cards correctly, it could have a good answer for the Democrats’ attempt to weaponize the Justice System against Trump.
