Trump Calls Arraignment a ‘Sad Day for America’

Donald Trump was charged today in Washington, D.C., following his third indictment, which this time relates to charges relating to Jan. 6, 2020. As he left the courtroom, the former president called his indictment by the federal government of Biden “the persecution of a political rival”.

Trump made his TV broadcast comments to the media. At the hearing, he pleaded not guilty to the federal charges of conspiring to stay in power after 2020. Mark Levin and Mike Davis, two legal experts, have called the charges bogus, politically motivated, or “election interfering.” This comes after Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, testified that Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s foreign money dealings.

Trump, holding an umbrella while speaking to the media, began by saying: “This is a sad day for America.” It was sad to drive through Washington, D.C., and see the filth, decay, broken walls, and graffiti. It’s not the same place I left. Violent crimes are on the rise under the Biden administration, and Democrat Mayor Muriel.

Trump continued, “It is sad to see what’s going on.” This is the persecution of a political rival; this was not supposed to happen in America.

He said that his high polling numbers were a factor in his indictment. He insisted that the prosecution was of the Republican candidate who is leading Biden in the Republican primaries by large margins.

In a New York Times/Siena College survey conducted at the end of July, Trump received 54% of the vote in the Republican primaries. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was in second with 17%. FiveThirtyEight’s June aggregate of national Republican primaries polls showed Trump with 53.1% and DeSantis with 21.2%. Newsweek reported on July 4 that Trump has a “big advantage” over Biden in swing states.

In his comments made after the hearing, the former president claimed that his indictment was election interference. Trump concluded, “So if he’s not beatable, then you either persecute or prosecute him.” “We cannot let this happen in America.”

Before he left for the hearing, Trump posted on Truth Social, “I AM NOW GOING TO WASHINGTON, D.C., TO BE ARRESTED FOR HAVING CHALLENGED A CORRUPT, RIGGED, & STOLEN ELECTION. IT IS A GREAT HONOR BECAUSE I AM BEING ARRESTED FOR YOU. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
