Los Angeles — Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias, was arrested around 11:15 PM on Sunday night in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard & Hoover St. Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department booked Urias on suspicion of felony Domestic Violence and released him on a $50,000 bond. Urias was arrested in 2019 on suspicion of domestic battery. However, the District Attorney dropped the charges. Instead, Urias agreed to enter a deferment program that required him to attend a 52-week domestic violence counseling program and not be arrested for domestic battery again for the following year. Upon completion of the terms, his case would officially be dropped.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has suspended Urias from playing in the MLB for 20 games after his first arrest. It is possible that he will be suspended for another 20 days following this arrest.
Urias has been with the Dodgers ever since they signed him back in 2012. He was the first player to make his debut in 2016. In 2021 he led the National League with wins. In 2021 he was also named to the All-MLB 2nd Team.
Urias is scheduled to appear in court on September 27th.
