Kansas Chiefs’ Star Receiver, Justyn Ross, Busted on Felony Charges

According to arrest records from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross has been arrested for a felony charge of damage.

According to the arrest record, Ross, a Clemson undrafted free agent, was arrested at 2:54 p.m. by Kansas authorities. He was booked at 4:27 p.m. for criminal damage exceeding $25,000, which is a felony in Kansas.

Our request for comment from the Chiefs and Ross agent was not immediately responded to.

Ross is now in his second year with the Chiefs. This was his first season playing. Over seven games, he has 34 yards from three catches.

The 23-year-old was placed on injured reserve during the last season due to his recovery from cervical fusion surgery, which was the primary reason he was not drafted.

Ross was diagnosed as having Klippel-Feil Syndrome, a congenital fusion between two vertebrae of his neck. This was discovered when he felt numbness in both arms following a routine hitting during Clemson practice.

Ross had surgery in 2020 and initially, it was expected that he would not be able to continue to play football.

Peyton Manning, the Hall of Fame quarterback who is now a Denver Broncos player at the end of his career, underwent cervical fusion. Ross’s case is different, as it wasn’t congenital and was treated before an injury.

Ross spent a year in rehab with Clemson and returned to the field at the end of 2021. Ross would suffer another injury after only 10 games.

Ross was cleared to play by only four NFL teams when it came time for him to make the transition from the NFL. The Chiefs, who signed him last year as a free undrafted agent, could have been one of them. He was placed on season-ending IR prior to the start of the 2022 training period.
