Nine Americans Among Hundreds Killed in Hamas Rocket Attacks

The world is in a state of panic after the Hamas attack on Israel, which occurred last Saturday. Terrorists killed more than 700 Israelis. Others are still missing.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller announced the U.S. casualties on Monday.

Nine US citizens have died in the conflict in Israel, a US National Security Council spokesperson said Monday.

We offer our condolences to the victims’ families and offer our best wishes. The spokesperson said that they will be closely monitoring the situation, and staying in touch with their Israeli partners, particularly local authorities.

The spokesperson stated, “We continue to closely monitor this situation and remain in contact with Israeli partners, particularly the local authorities.”

Hamas incursions on Israeli territory are recognized as the deadliest in five decades since the Yom Kippur War. Murders and other crimes against American citizens and others increase the urgency and severity. On Sunday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the United States Government was “working overtime” to verify reports of missing or deceased Americans.

Shortly after the fighting started, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin sent the U.S. Navy Gerald Ford strike groups to the eastern Mediterranean in order to deter non-combatants and possibly to help them evacuate.

The U.S. Military has moved a strike group and a military plane closer to Israel as a show of support. The U.S. Military will begin supplying Israel with military supplies and munitions immediately.

Austin announced Sunday that the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group has been ordered to head for the Eastern Mediterranean. It consists of a carrier, four Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers, and a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser.

Austin stated, “The United States’ ironclad dedication to the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli People is underscored by the strengthening of the joint force posture as well as the material support which we will provide Israel.” Austin stated, “My team will remain in close contact with Israeli colleagues so that they can have the resources needed to protect their citizens and themselves against these heinous terrorist attacks.”

Iran is implicated in the planning of the attack, even though initially it denied any involvement. Iran’s Supreme Leader publicly praised the attack. Iran is a major backer of Hamas and its efforts to combat Israel.

The deaths of American citizens, Israelis and Palestinians, and other innocents caught in the crossfire have transformed a local conflict into a global one. Israel’s response, as well as that of other countries, will have an enormous impact on Middle Eastern Politics and the world’s future.
