Attention: California Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo Arrested for DUI

Published on

A California Democrat politician was caught in a flagrant infraction on another day ending in “Y”. Wendy Carrillo of District 52, who is running for Los Angeles City Council District 14, was driving her Audi in the early hours of the morning on Friday when she crashed it into a parked vehicle. You can see from the video that this was no minor accident. She drove into a parked vehicle, and then her car ended up in the middle.

WATCH:

She sneezed, and her car was lost. You’ve never heard of that before. Bill Essayli, District 63 Assemblyman, has also never heard of it.

Carrillo changed her story after being arrested.

Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo, who was arrested early Friday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, could upset the already heated Los Angeles City Council election.

Booking records online for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department indicate that Carrillo (43), was arrested around 1:30 a.m. and booked in jail shortly after 4:00 a.m.

Carrillo confirmed in a written statement that she had crashed into parked cars before being arrested. She claimed that no one was injured and that she had been cooperating fully with law enforcement.

Carrillo was fortunate that nobody was injured. While I was living in Los Angeles I drove many times down Monterey Road, and through Highland Park. This is one of those areas where people (or multiple people) can be walking down the middle of the road, unaware of cars. It’s one of those neighborhoods where a dog, coyote, or cat could suddenly appear in your path, or someone may be sitting in their car, either getting ready to get out or preparing themselves to do so. It is deplorable for Carrillo to be so dismissive about her actions. Carrillo had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 percent. This is TWICE what the law allows. Carrillo’s driving under the influence is a serious offense. Taxis are still available, even though she is a California Democrat and anti-rideshare. Carrillo should have called a taxi or asked one of her employees to drive her to her destination so that she wouldn’t be driving impaired. Carrillo should have expressed extreme regret, not justifications in her statement to minimize the damages.

Carrillo’s faux apology after dropping the embarrassing Sneeze Defense:

As a public employee, I understand that I must adhere to a higher standard that demands accountability for my conduct. I accept personal responsibility for my actions. I apologize to my family and friends, as well as colleagues, for any actions that did not meet this expectation. I will seek all the support and help that is needed. In doing so, I will remain committed to my family, my constituents, and the community in which I grew up, and I am proud to be a representative.

Carrillo is the latest in a long list of Democrat California lawmakers (or wannabes) who are incapable of recognizing when they’re too drunk to drive. They have shown that they are unable to think clearly, and this behavior is a reflection of that.

Dave Min, a state senator from Irvine who Democrat Congresswoman Katie Porter hopes to smuggle into her congressional seat if she succeeds in her bid for U.S. Senate – good luck! – was arrested in May. Min was arrested in May after blowing a 0.15 while driving a vehicle funded by the state. Clarissa Cervantes has been arrested twice, and not just once. She is running for an Assembly seat in the District 58. Cervantes, who was arrested for the second time just a few weeks after her first conviction was thrown out, had been convicted of the first offense.

This is not a joke.

Clarissa Cervantes, a Riverside City Council member, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to driving while intoxicated, less than two months after she was arrested for DUI on July 1, 2023.

This is Cervantes’ second conviction for driving under the Influence. According to SCNG’s Brian Rokos, “she [Cervantes] was arrested by California Highway Patrol around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014, on the eastbound 60 Freeway, at the Frederick Street exit in Moreno Valley. She was about a half-mile away from her apartment listed on the ticket.”

Cervantes petitioned successfully for her misdemeanor DUI conviction in 2015. This was only 42 days prior to her arrest on July 1, 2023. She told the court, “I carry remorse every day and promise never to repeat those actions.”

Cervantes has not kept his promises.

We should not forget that in 2014, Ben Hueso, a former San Diego senator, was convicted of DUI for driving in the wrong direction in Downtown Sacramento. You would think that the California Democrats could compare notes to come up with an effective plan for preventing their members from getting caught and arrested. The rotten pattern persists because the California Democrats really believe they are above the law.

They do not give a damn.

What are Carrillo’s odds of defeating her former mentor, Kevin De Leon, who is currently the District 14 City Councilman?

It is unclear what impact the arrest will have on the 43-year-old Democrat’s chances to win the hotly contested Council District 14 race. Around a dozen people are interested in running against de Leon. He is seeking reelection, despite being criticized over the last year for his involvement in a racist meeting in a backroom that was secretly recorded and leaked to the media.

Carrillo’s name recognition as a former state legislator helped her in the race. According to the city ethics commission, she raised more money through September 30 than any other 14th council district candidate except Assemblymember Miguel Santiago.

Carrillo does not have to worry, given the history of California Democrats. They are known for their criminality and recklessness. Clarissa Cervantes, who wants Cristina Garcia’s seat in the Assembly, was accused of sexually harassing a staffer. She also made anti-Asian remarks. She received a simple slap on her wrist and sailed through to the end of her term as an Assemblywoman without incident. De Leon is as golden as the California sunrise if she keeps fundraising and doesn’t face any negative opposition from Carrillo. She knows this better than anyone. She can now move on from the Sneeze Defense and say, “At least I didn’t hurt anybody” or “I’m cooperating like butter won’t melt.”

This is California politics at its best.
