Catherine Herridge of CBS News, a senior investigative reporter, did not make any unicorns or rainbows in a recent roundtable discussion. Instead, she predicted a “black swan” event that could leave the United States in a very different place than it is today.
.@CBS_Herridge predicts in 2024, the U.S. may have “a national security event with high impact that’s very hard to predict,” pointing to ongoing wars and U.S. division as factors creating “fertile ground for our adversaries like North Korea, China and Iran” to take advantage of. pic.twitter.com/Vx8MTnn1W8

CBS News “Face the Nation”, a Christmas Eve roundtable, allowed various experts to predict the year 2024. The majority of predictions were banal but one stood out and caused critics to wonder what it could mean.
Catherine Herridge of the Network, wife of a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force suggested that 2024 could be a year of “a black swan” event. This is an event of national security with a high impact, but it’s hard to predict.
Herridge said to the CBS News panelists that several concerns influenced her “dark prediction”, including “this kind of enduring threat level we’re faced, the wars we’re fighting in Israel and Ukraine, as well as the fact that this country is so divided, in ways we’ve never seen before.” “I think this creates fertile soil for our enemies like North Korea, China, and Iran.”
It’s not the best thing to say on Christmas Eve. Herridge is a bit of a risk-taker, but does he go that far? Consider all the risks that have increased under the Biden Administration.
Let’s start with the Southern Border, a front close to home. On Tuesday, it was revealed that over 730,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the border in less than 3 months.
NEW: CBP sources tell FOX there have already been over 730,000 migrant encounters at the southern border since Oct. 1st, a population size bigger than the city of Denver arriving at the southern border in less than 3 months. December on pace to set highest month ever recorded.

Over six million illegal immigrants entered the United States during the three years that Joe Biden was president. It is not hard to imagine that terrorists could be brought into the country by bad actors who would use this chaos. If you were a terrorist wouldn’t you do that? Mentioning this possibility indeed causes the press to scream that “there’s no proof” of any organized activity, but “proof” won’t come until there is an attack. This is the problem.
It may not be obvious that this is the cause of a catastrophic event. Take a look at the pro-Hamas movements in the United States. Right now, “protesters”, who are fighting with the police, disrupting events for Christmas, and trying as much to annoy Americans, are testing out the waters. They are discovering that their actions have little to no consequence. How hard is it to imagine that among those antisemitic hordes, there may be some individuals who are willing to do more than fight the police?
Perhaps I am thinking too small. While I’m typing this, Russia continues to be at war in Europe. There is no end in sight. China is continuing to escalate its aggression against Taiwan and international waters. Iran has also threatened to attack Israel. There’s plenty of opportunity for a major event in foreign policy to happen that could have a severe impact on the United States.
Another global pandemic is also possible. Every week, there are reports of a new virus strain spreading in China. And what better time to spread one than during an election season in the United States? What will happen in the streets, if Donald Trump is elected? The global left cannot be expected to remain idly apathetic given the recent events.
Herridge, when you consider the possibilities, is probably being safe and predicting a “black swan” event.
