Felicity Hauffman spoke out for the first time about her role in the college admissions scandal.
Huffman told ABC she felt compelled by her daughter to give them a chance at a brighter future.
Huffman pleaded guilty to conspiracy and honest service fraud in May 2019. Huffman admitted paying $15,000 to a consultant for a proctor to check the SAT answers of her older daughter.
In December 2017, the star of “Desperate Housewives” recalled driving her daughter to take her SAT test.
She asked, “Can you buy us ice-cream after?” Huffman remembered. ‘I was afraid of the test. I wondered what fun things we could do. I turned around and to my shame, I did not.”
Rick Singer was sentenced to 42 months in prison earlier this year for his role as the mastermind behind the “Operation Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal.
A 62-year-old businessman from Newport Beach, California, pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering, racketeering and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Huffman went on to say, “After some time, he started to tell me that she would not be able attend the college she wanted. ”
“I trusted him. I believed him. ”
Huffman stated, “I realize hindsight is 20/20, but I thought I would be a bad mother if I didn’t do it. “I did it. ”
Huffman, and the actress Lori Loughlin from “Full House” were both implicated in the scandal. It was a way for parents with money to get their kids into some of America’s top schools, even if they had low test scores.

Huffman plead guilty to federal charges in May 2019. Huffman received a sentence of 11 days in prison, a year on probation, 250 hours community service, and a fine for $30,000.
“I feel I owe a debt and an apology to the academic community. She claimed she owed an explanation to “the academic communities” as well as to the students and families that sacrificed to achieve their legitimate goals.
