Did the Biden Campaign Just Pinocchio Trump’s Words? Fact-Checkers Weigh In

Biden’s campaign, and anyone associated with it, is not the first to lie about Donald Trump. It’s rare for left-wing fact-checkers to expose them for their lies.

Last week, during a visit to Cedar Rapids in Iowa, Trump gave a speech. A short clip of the speech went viral on Facebook with some help from Biden’s presidential campaign.

As you can see from the clip below, the Biden Campaign shared it, claiming that Trump had told his supporters: “We have waged a war of all-out destruction on American democracy.”

It’s a very damning video. Leftists claim it’s true. For them, this is proof that Donald Trump poses a threat to “our democracy” and has finally “said loudly” what the left had been saying about him all along. Some even claim it’s a “confession.”

But that’s not at all what he said. This is the context of his line.

You have watched for decades as a corrupt class of politicians in the nation’s capital has looted your wealth, trampled on your dignity, and forced their radical agenda onto every aspect of your life. You are well aware of this. In 2016, you chose to elect an outsider to be your president to show that you were not going to listen to these liars and losers. It was all about America. We want to place our country first. We did that for four years, and it’s the reason we were so successful. They say that’s why they thought it was a great presidency. Even his opponents have said that he has done well. I must say, however, that “take it back,” is what his people shout. His people scream “Take it Back.” Since that day, we have waged a war against the American democracy. We had many opponents. Look at their actions, which are becoming increasingly extreme and repressive. Each day they are waging a full-scale war.

The context of the video shows that Trump is not only accusing the left-wing political parties of fighting a war against democracy but also not saying he has done so himself.

It’s not necessary to believe my word or even your ears. Snopes, the left-wing website, wrote that Trump unambiguously stated, “We’ve been waging an all-out battle in American democracy” (and C-SPAN transcripts reflect the same). The context and the words he used to say ‘waging war on American Democracy’ are not supported by what we heard. Trump intended to accuse others of waging a war on democracy and not to admit to it.

The Biden campaign’s use of the same video and false quote to promote its absurd narrative about Trump as an enemy of “our democracy” is a sign of the campaign’s desperation to spread this false narrative.

Did the campaign deliberately spread fake news or was it too lazy to verify the video? Trump’s recent lead in polls makes me suspect that the campaign is so desperate to get Trump that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get him.
