Is the Biden Administration Delusional About the Economy?

The Biden administration is not doing well.

They continue to march bravely, appearing on friendly networks and praising their supposed economic success, in the hope of gaining some traction. Even mainstream journalists are becoming weary. Shalanda Young, Biden’s budget director, was the one to take on Sunday to try and convince people that water wasn’t wet.

What happened was a pure delusion.

Host: Do you think that the president’s policies are being heard more?

Young: The president understands it, and I do too. I have a grandmother who is 95 years old in Clinton, LA. I can therefore get first-hand feedback about what people feel [on] the grounds, in these small towns where I come from. So I get it. Macro numbers are indeed doing as well as anyone could have expected, with inflation falling and job numbers staying strong. But people need to feel the effects, which will take some time.

Pause for a minute. The last time I checked it was almost 2024. Joe Biden has been in office for three years. Joe Biden’s policies have been in place for the entire period. These policies have been a failure if it is “going to take time” now.

In terms of the merits, she argues that inflation has only come down because it was near-record-high due to President Obama’s spending spree. Americans are supposed to be ecstatic that they will now pay about 20 percent more to live the same lifestyle as they did before Biden became president. The macro numbers do not “go as well as anyone could have predicted”. Inflation was always predicted to be temporary and short-lived. It lasted for years and was baked into the cake.

Young’s remarks are not all that stupid.

Young: We can’t give in when we see positive macroeconomic numbers. It takes time for them to be reflected. I am on his team of economists, and we are most focused on how to reduce costs. You’ll hear us talking about junk fees. What are junk fees? This saves money for people. We go after people who charge an extra $20 or even $50 at hotels and banks. Everything…

Host: The supermarkets are seeing a two percent increase in prices compared to last year…

Young: We will do everything possible to ensure that people pay less.

Junk fees Biden’s administration continues to talk about junk fees. What happens when the government attempts to influence the pricing of different industries? Prices go up overall. Telling an airline that it cannot charge for a bag in the carry-on will increase the cost of a flight. The price of a hotel room will rise if you tell them they can’t charge cancellation fees. It’s not complicated.

We don’t have to rely on Daddy Biden to protect us from junk charges. We need him out of the picture so that the economy can recover naturally without rents going up by double digits within a few short years. It is embarrassing to see an administration so deluded. It won’t “take time.” Biden and his handlers already have time and have failed.
