Why Lauren Boebert’s Bowing Out of Reelection, and What Lies Beneath the Surface

You may remember that last year Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), narrowly won reelection in the 3rd Congressional District. The race was so close, it triggered a recount.

The victory was not without its embarrassment. It’s possible that her seat was the deciding factor in determining control of Congress when no red wave appeared during that election. Adam Frisch, her opponent, graciously conceded. But he is running again to unseat her. He may still have some chance. Boebert has been criticized for her conduct, and now she is facing a primary opponent. Associated Press reports that Frisch will still raise more money than Boebert, even if she wins.

Boebert has, after reading the signs, decided to not run for reelection as a member of the 3rd Congressional District. Boebert won’t be returning to the private industry. She is changing districts. In a video on Facebook posted Wednesday night, she announced her decision.

“Today, I announce my candidacy to be the Republican nominee for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District at the United States House of Representatives in 2024. This is the right thing for me and for those who are supportive of our conservative movement. It’s the right thing to do for Colorado.”

Boebert added, “I promised from the day I first ran for office that I would do everything I could to prevent the socialists and the communists from taking over our nation.” “It means fighting, but also not letting Hollywood elites or progressive money groups buy a third district seat they don’t deserve.”

Boebert claims that leftists want to steal her 3rd District through personal attacks. It’s unfair to the third district and the conservatives who have worked so hard there for our victories. I am incredibly grateful.

She acknowledged that the past year has been challenging for her, her family, and herself. She cited her recent divorce and “personal mistakes.” She expressed her gratitude for all the support she received.

She stressed the importance of retaining her 3rd District despite switching to the Fourth Congressional District.

She said, “We can’t lose the 3rd and Colorado’s Fourth District is looking for a defender of liberty who has a track record of standing up for conservative principles.” “We must protect our majority in the House, win the Senate, and win the Presidency.” When we take back control of the White House, President Trump wants to hear our conservative voices loud and clear. “I love Colorado’s Third, and I will work as hard as possible for the remainder of my term to be an excellent representative for everyone in this District.”

Boebert will face a crowded field in the 4th district to fill the seat Rep. Ken Buck will be vacating. It is also the most conservative district in the state, making it easier for Boebert to win in future elections and retain her seat. Leftist groups are less likely to spend money to attack her.
