Pakistan launched air and heavy artillery strikes on Iranian targets on Thursday. Iranian media reported at least nine deaths. The attack was in response to an Iranian missile attack on Pakistan which targeted Balochi separatists on seven different locations. The attack involved drones and rockets as well as loitering weapons and “drones” and “standoff weapons”. ”

Iran fired a missile at what it claimed was a Balochi separatist base in Pakistan. It is confusing, because Pakistan accuses a different Balochi separatist group.

Although the future of this project has not been determined yet, it will in a couple weeks.

At the time of the Iranian missile attack, Iran and Pakistan were conducting joint naval exercises. They appeared to have good relations.

The attack led to speculation that Pakistan may have been involved.

This story was quickly put to bed when Pakistan called their ambassador in Tehran and declared them persona non grata.

India has expressed its support for Iran but also for Israel. India has said it supports terrorists’ actions. But India is a member of the quasi-politico/economic grouping called BRICS, and in August, Iran was invited to join that club.

Balochis intensified their operations against Iran in response.

This story is about more than just hitting terrorists and freedom fighters. Iran launched missile attacks in less than 24 hour against targets in neighbouring countries. Iran has also launched missile strikes on targets in:

January 15: Erbil Iraq

January 15: Syria

It is likely that Iran is trying to capitalize on the success of its Houthi proxy force in shutting down the Red Sea to demonstrate that it has regional power, and that it can do anything it wants.
