George Soros, a billionaire financier who is progressive and a liberal, has poured a lot of money into Texas’s elections to boost support for leftist candidates.
This strategy is designed to turn Texas into a Democratic playground. It could be successful if the Republican Party of Texas doesn’t respond to this political offensive.
According to the Texas Tribune, George Soros pours money into the local Democratic Parties in Texas to help Democrats turn Texas blue.
The Texas Tribune reported that Soros, in conjunction with the Texas Majority PAC donated six-figure amounts to the Democratic Parties of Hidalgo and Cameron counties, which have a majority or plurality of Hispanic residents. Soros’ spending is a response to the fact that Democrats are losing ground in Texas and nationally with Latino voters.
Hidalgo County and Cameron County were two of the counties where Republicans made the biggest gains between the presidential elections in 2016 and 2020. According to The New York Times, Hidalgo County went 24 points right between 2016 and 2020, while Cameron County shifted 20 points toward Republicans.
Mayra Fernandez, a former Texas Representative, commented on Soros’ move in an interview with “Washington Examiner,” saying that Soros’s gambit showed that the left was afraid to lose.
Flores said that she was surprised by Soros’s large contributions to Texas. She had won a special election in Texas earlier in the year and lost to Gonzalez in 2022. For years, Democrats tried to turn Texas blue – see Beto’s failed 2018 campaigns for governor and senate in 2022 – but the Left was unable to influence conservative voters’ minds on important topics like abortion and immigration.

Flores explained that she and her team “have been traveling and sharing our faith and American dream message with voters who see the disaster Joe Biden has created in South Texas.” She also recounted that they “brought over 100 women, who speak Spanish and voted for Biden 2020.”
Women told her that they would not support the president of 2024.
Soros’ strategy has been to play the long game in other states, focusing on local races to change the political landscape of the Lone Star State from the bottom up. He’s likely betting on the idea that Texas’s color isn’t as dark as it used to be and believes it’s possible to get the state’s people to vote for Democrats.
It would be a grave mistake to think that Soros’s strategy could not work. Democrats’ open-border immigration stances will make it difficult for them to win over Texans. Texas residents are also very protective of their firearms, making it difficult for gun grabbers to gain traction. Beto O’Rourke’s anti-gun campaign was ruined when he used the Uvalde shooting to promote his anti-gun agenda.
It is possible that Soros and his cronies could be able if they are willing to continue to work in Texas for a long time, to influence more Texans towards the left. This is true, especially if the state party fails to recognize this tactic and does nothing to stop it.
It is for this reason that I have always emphasized the importance of local politics. Positive or negative, the government that is closest to people has the greatest impact. Focusing on local politics can also help conservatives and libertarians become aware of what progressives are up to and warn their communities about what they will face once a new “woke” district prosecutor comes into power.
