Biden’s Immigration Strategy Backfires: Migrants Navigate Through Storm Sewers, Plan in Chaos

Illegal immigration can be a dangerous and nasty business. In most cases, the trip is difficult and long, regardless of its intentions. Criminals who are looking to make money exploit migrants, and they take advantage of this situation by offering them services at high prices. Document fraud can also be used to obtain services, such as transportation. It can be the lending of passports that have photos of migrants or falsifying travel or identity documents. These services are illegal and criminals are in a position of power while migrants are vulnerable.

Many migrants are abused or even die on their way to their destination. Others are left without resources. Refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants, such as unaccompanied children and pregnant women, may be among the people who pay high prices for smuggling services without any guarantee of their safety or success. Many migrants are mistreated and forced to live in harsh conditions during the smuggling procedure. It is for this reason that a clear and loud message should be sent to anyone who does not intend to enter the country legally. Policy decisions are needed to send the message.

Customs and Border Protection reported that U.S. Border Patrol officers arrested 69 migrants including four minors who were hiding in El Paso’s storm drain system. El Paso agents received a tip that migrants were being smuggled in an area called the Boone Storm Drain located east of the Bridge of the Americas.

During its investigation, El Paso Confined Space Entry (CSET), discovered that an old manhole, near Interstate 10, had been used to enter the confined space. High levels of chloride were also detected on the site.

Two separate drainage systems exist. PVC pipes are used in the sanitary sewer system, which carries human waste. Gases can be more concentrated in the manholes used to access the sanitary sewer system. The storm drainage system, where the migrants were discovered, can still contain dangerous gases. They can move through this system because the storm drainage system can handle larger amounts of runoff. Therefore, the RCP pipes and box culverts are larger.

CSET found another illegal entry before the agents could locate 27 migrants. The agents’ investigation revealed an additional 43 migrants in the storm drain system.

On Wednesday evening, 69 migrants from different countries were apprehended. The migrants apprehended were from Guatemala, Mexico Bolivia, Honduras, and El Salvador. They were all medically examined and processed for removal under Title 8.

El Paso Sector acting Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott Good”, said:

“El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents continue to disrupt the illegal operations of transnational criminal groups (TCO) and dangerous human smuggling plans.”

The storm drain system poses serious dangers to both our Border Patrol agents as well as to law enforcement partners. El Paso Sector will take serious action against those who exploit the El Paso Storm Drain System.

CBP issued an additional warning, stating that the storm drain system of the city is “complex and large, and migrants frequently get lost or encounter toxic gases, insects, and venomous creatures as they try to enter the United States.”

The complex drainage system from El Paso up to the Rio Grande River is capable of transporting toxic and hazardous materials that could pose serious health hazards. Some of these drains have a diameter of only a few inches, which can pose a serious threat to migrants. They could be trapped and unable to breathe.

Democrats’ refusal to face the truth of what is happening at the border represents not only a betrayal to the American people but also cruelty towards those involved. Ignoring problems will never solve them. In situations like this, inaction can be interpreted as a condoning of illegal activity. Biden’s border is a disaster and gets worse every day.
