The Rifle, Colorado Police Department reported on Tuesday that Tyler Boebert, son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, had been arrested. He was facing multiple charges.
The arrest follows a string of recent vehicle trespasses and property thefts that occurred in Rifle, they wrote on Facebook.
They also stated that the 18-year-old “faces the following charges”: four felony offenses of Criminal Possession ID documents – Multiple Victims; one felony offense of Conspiracy To Commit A Felony and over 15 misdemeanors and petty crimes.
Boebert released a statement after the news was made public. She expressed her sadness and said that her son should be “held accountable for bad decisions like any other citizen”.
“I love Tyler. He has faced some difficult challenges as a young person and has been the focus of public attention he did not ask for.” Boebert wrote in an email that it breaks her heart to see Tyler struggling, and in this case, when he’s been given multiple chances to turn his life around. Tyler, as an adult and father will be responsible for his actions. He should also be held accountable just like every other citizen for making poor decisions.
As you will remember, in the last few months the Boeberts have been in the spotlight for several issues that are not related to her work as a member of Congress.
Her ex-husband Jayson Boebert was arrested for two separate incidents in January. Lauren Boebert received a temporary restraining from Jayson Boebert earlier this month after claiming he had threatened her and entered their home without permission.
Boebert apologized for the “Beetlejuice”, incident that occurred in a Denver theatre on Sept. 20, 2023.
Her critics, as one would expect, have had a field day referring to “the Boebert family” in light of her arrest history, plus Boebert’s tweet on Tuesday about how “the Biden crime family will go down in history as the most corrupt family in American politics.” Comments like these were thrown at her.

Some people are making comparisons between the situation of her son and Hunter Biden, which is an incredibly dumb comparison. The reasons for this comparison should be clear to everyone.
The news of Boebert’s son’s arrest Wednesday prompted a different response from Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa.
This is a family in crisis and the recreational cruelty I see on social media needs to be out of bounds.
I know the impact this has on children. I’m calling for restraint because cruelty has substantial collateral damage.
We can’t ever forget that they didn’t sign up for this. https://t.co/SAbFMYsOCk

Leftists responded that her son wasn’t fair game, given how she and the Republican Party had openly speculated on Hunter Biden and members of Joe Biden’s family (including his brother James Biden), even though the circumstances are not comparable.
Conservatives on the other had declared it “another win” for Fetterman.
Another W for John Fetterman. https://t.co/R3GgovtguN

Fetterman is also right. There’s not much civility left in politics, after all, but when it comes to children of lawmakers/politicos, as long as they aren’t involved in their parent’s legislative affairs and aren’t engaging in Hunter-esque behavior that is potentially being sanctioned/endorsed/overseen by their powerful parent, as a general rule they should be off limits.
What do you think?
