New York AG Letitia James’s Lavish Lifestyle Exposed: Living High on the Public Dollar

Letitia James of New York, the Attorney General who sent out smug, sarcastic tweets about the ridiculous court ruling in her state that was against former President Donald Trump, has embraced the Democratic tradition to turn a six-figure income into an eight-figure lifestyle. Mel (@Villgecrazylady) provided the information on X, using publicly available information to expose James’ lascivious life.

Mel points out that James, legally, has been relatively clean. The only incident was in the 2010s when she neglected to include on her financial disclosure forms, a Brooklyn brownstone which she owned and rented. James, despite her musical tastes, has adopted Steve Winwood’s theme song when it comes to spending campaign and public funds on items that seem to be a bit illogical about her job duties.

James spent more than $15K in 2023 on luxury hotel stays…in Puerto Rico. It is unclear how exactly this expenditure is related to the duties of the New York Attorney General, but the fact that it involves a continuing investigation into the Jets-Sharks fight in the early 1960s makes sense.

James, in her five years of service as Attorney General, has spent over $84,000 on airfare, including the rental of private planes. Although the LaGuardia security lines can be annoying, it seems a bit excessive for an Attorney General.

James is not an exception.

Maybe the steakhouse meal was part of her Trump investigations.

Mel’s investigation reveals more unusual expenditures. There were no cheaper places to work? A New York nightclub does not seem like the right place to conduct business legally and soberly. Or legality and sobriety, in general.

Then there is the $300K that was spent the year following James’ reelection win in 2022 as a “campaign consultant”. James either wanted to know why the margin of victory in 2022 was 18% lower than it was in 2018 or she spent money on campaigning.

Mel’s list of James’ financial frivolities is endless. Mel has done an excellent job in exposing James’ financial foibles. It’s not surprising that James has a “rules are for you, not me” mentality. Bob Hoge noted recently that James was a “rules for thee, not for me” person.

The power-hungry partisan also threatened to seize Trump’s assets if Trump didn’t pay immediately.

Do you think this is how a law enforcer is supposed to act? State prosecutors are expected to be openly political, vindicative towards political opponents, and unapologetically dedicated to crushing their ideological enemies.

No, the answer is of course no. It may not be acceptable, but it is certainly acceptable to act as a pseudo-public servant who can maintain a comfortable lifestyle and a healthy diet at the expense of campaign donors and taxpayers.
