According to multiple sources, Joe Lieberman has died. He was a long-time Connecticut senator and Democrat Vice Presidential nominee. He was 82.
His family released a statement:

Mr. Lieberman viewed himself as a centrist Democrat. He was firmly in the mainstream of his party, supporting abortion rights, gay rights, and gun control. He was not afraid to deviate from the Democratic Party’s orthodoxy. This is most evident in his consistent hawkish foreign policy.
Lieberman was rejected by Connecticut Democrats in 2006 when he ran for his fourth Senate term due to his unwavering support of the 2003 Iraq invasion and the war that followed. He retained his seat in November 2006 by running as an independent and receiving substantial support from Republican voters and unaffiliated people.
Lieberman, nearing the end of his Senate tenure, said: “I do not always fit into the conventional political boxes.” This was a subtle understatement to avoid the anger that his maverick ways had stoked in many liberals.
…. In retirement, Mr. Lieberman was co-chairman of No Labels, a group founded to encourage bipartisanship. He did not miss the opportunity to repeat his plea from his farewell Senate address in 2012.
