In what could be a political first, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed persistent stories about his wife being transgender. It is not the first time that persistent rumors about transgenderism have followed a prominent politician’s wife. However, this is the first instance when a politician publicly addressed them.

Emmanuel Macron, the French president, has slammed conspiracy theories that have been circulating for years that his wife Brigitte is a transgender woman. He called them “false” and “fabricated.”
Macron, 47 years old, was surprisingly candid and emotional in his response to the speculation about Brigitte Macron circulating in some right-wing circles.
Macron, who had just guaranteed abortion rights in France’s Constitution, said that the worst things are false information and fabricated stories at an International Women’s Day celebration in Paris on Friday.
