This is another tragic, horrific story that we have seen all too often in recent years. In early March in Illinois, a convict who was serving a 16-year sentence for home invasion and assault was released. The next day he broke into the Chicago apartment of Laterria Smith and stabbed her and her 11-year-old son, killing the boy.
The youngster, who was trying to protect his mother during the attack, was stabbed in the chest.
Crosetti, Brand’s 37-year-old killer who had been in a previous relationship with Smith was released on 10th March. He was released although he had sent her threatening text messages in January and had a lengthy record of domestic violence.
Donald Shelter, the chair of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, and LeAnn Miller, a board member, resigned out of disgrace following the public outcry over Brand’s release, and the tragic death of the boy. Miller was appointed by Illinois’ Democrat governor JB Pritzker.

A Republican State Senator is angry with Gov. JB Pritzker, the Prison Review Board, and their softer-than-ever policies on crime.
Jason Plummer, a Republican Illinois state senator, told Fox News Digital that he was “sick to my stomach” over the killing. “I was disgusted when I heard the news.”
He blamed the progressive Pritzker for the incident.
He added, “The governor did this and the boy is dead.” “For the past three years, Governor of Illinois has had a cavalier attitude toward the Prisoner Review Board.”
He also posted an angry message on X:
When the public finally learns the lengths @GovPritzker went over several years to manipulate the system and empower unqualified & extreme activists to the Prisoner Review Board over our objections, they will be outraged. J.B. Pritzker is the most dangerous governor in America. https://t.co/l5DLiErObo

These stories are painful to read, write, and process. I can’t fathom the thoughts of people like Pritzker, or District Attorneys who love crime like Los Angeles George Gascon. How many more examples do they need before they realize that their “soft on crime” policies are causing mayhem and that the “criminal justice” reform is not working? How many cities will have to be destroyed, and how many senseless deaths must people endure before they realize what is obvious to the majority of rational individuals: criminals should be treated as criminals? Crime must be punished.
What’s happening in America is sad.
