Manhunt for ‘Big Dan’ Rodimer: Former GOP Candidate Wanted for Murder in Las Vegas

Published on

According to court records, Daniel “Big Dan’ Rodimer has been charged with murder for a homicide in Las Vegas that occurred in 2023. A warrant request for Rodimer was made on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, the jail records showed that Rodimer was not in custody.

Rodimer, a former wrestler, unsuccessfully ran for Congress as a Republican in Nevada in 2020 and Texas in 2021. Rodimer was defeated by Democrat incumbent Susie Lee in Nevada’s Congressional District 3 by 13,000 ballots. He then ran for the Texas District 6 Special Election.

On October 29, 2023, the homicide occurred at Resorts World, where Christoper Tapp, 47 years old was found with injuries initially attributed to an accident. Tapp succumbed in a hospital to his injuries. He was declared dead. Tapp died from blunt force trauma in the head. The Coroner declared the death to be a homicide.

Investigators in Homicide were told that Tapp was involved in a fight within a hotel before his body had been discovered.

Tapp was wrongfully imprisoned for 21 years, convicted of the murder of Angie Dodge (18), a woman from Idaho who had been raped, nearly decapitated, and found. Tapp was cleared of his conviction in 2019 by the Idaho Innocence Project, which worked on Tapp’s case. Brian Dripps confessed to the murder of Angie, who was her neighbor at the time.

Rodimer’s alleged violent past became an issue for 2020. In 2018, Sarah Rodimer made two 911 calls, including one that alleged domestic violence. Sarah Rodimer addressed these allegations in a campaign advertisement, stating that it was “a verbal argument, plainly and simply,” and Daniel “has never touched me, either then or now.”

Rodimer was arrested in 2010 for alleged battery. It happened at a Florida Waffle House. Rodimer was released from the charges pending completion of an anger management course.
