Here’s a real Scooby-Doo Mystery.
I wrote a piece on Tuesday about the Michigan GOP’s apparent change of direction. The story of how the Grand Old Party in the Great Lakes State finally dropped a stupid lawsuit that shouldn’t have been filed.
As any good writer can tell you, the best way to spread a story is on as many platforms and websites as possible. The platform, formerly known as Twitter, and now named X after Elon Musk bought it, is a free-flowing platform that I frequently use to check for breaking news or to post a new story.
Since the story was about the Michigan GOP, it seemed only natural to include them in the article, along with former Congressman Pete Hoekstra and Kristina Karamo.
Here’s what I found:
It is a legal dispute that Karamo lost a few days ago when she was unable to call herself the chairperson of the Michigan GOP. This story hit her right here and stripped her of being able to use the Mi-GOP’s tools and present herself as its legal chair.
In her bid to regain control of the Michigan Republican Party, the ousted former leader lost a crucial court ruling on Thursday.
The Michigan Court of Appeals has said that it will not suspend a lower court’s decision affirming Kristina Karmo’s removal from office by party members.
Karamo hoped that a stay in Detroit would allow her to take the lead at a meeting on Saturday to select the presidential delegates to the party’s convention.
With backing from both the national party as well as former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party of Michigan has named Pete Hoekstra the new chair. He will lead a similar gathering across the state, in Grand Rapids.
Karamo refuses to acknowledge that her party members voted correctly for her removal from office. A Kent County judge said on Tuesday that the vote of Jan. 6, was valid, and any actions taken by Karamo since then were “void” and had no effect.
This would include tools such as X, or the bank accounts of the party.
After the court decision, I assumed that the former administration would eventually be required to hand over all social media accounts as well as access to bank accounts to Hoekstra’s administration. This is the first indication that this will happen. I did not have an official estimate of when it would happen.
As I said earlier today, Pete was given full control of the State Committee after Karamo had been removed legally and correctly by the members. The court confirmed this. This will hopefully start things moving in the correct direction and save this election for Republicans in Michigan.
Karamo, her co-conspirators, and their gang will still be snarling on the way to the exit.
I’ve reached out to a few people who may be in the loop about the situation and the status of the transition. As soon as I know more, I’ll update this article.
The sooner the Michigan GOP can be controlled by people who want Republicans to win the elections, and the quicker money can be raised, the better chance Republicans will have of winning the November election.
This would be a welcome change.
