Russian Missile Barely Misses Zelensky’s Motorcade, Greece’s Prime Minister Escapes Unscathed

In Odesa, a Russian missile exploded Wednesday near the motorcade that was carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Greek Premier Kyriakos Mistitakis. At least five people were killed and many others injured when the missile struck less than 500 meters (estimates differ). ABC News reports that the explosion occurred at a distance of 100 meters. If this is true, then both men would have been within the radius of casualties from the warhead. The motorcade was said to have felt the shockwave from the explosion. Ironically, Mitsotakis visited Odesa to pay tribute and visit the cathedral heavily damaged by Russian missiles to twelve civilians who were killed last week during an attack on an apartment block.

It is thought that this missile may be an Iskander M ballistic missile.

Zelensky commented on the missile strike at Zelensky’s joint meeting with Mitsotakis.

They either have lost their mind or don’t fully control what their terrorist army is doing.

It is a sign of recklessness and indiscipline to launch a ballistic rocket into a city that a foreign leader is visiting, but it is also a hallmark of the Russian Army.

Russia claimed it had engaged in a “high-precision” missile strike in Odesa’s industrial port, where Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing to use unmanned boats for combat. Precision is, of course, entirely up to the beholder.

Many speculate whether it was an assassination by Russia, or if this was a warning for Greece to be more careful with its relationship with Ukraine. Mitsotakis’ attendance at ceremonies commemorating Russian atrocities has a much greater significance than a “meet-and-greet” in Kyiv. I don’t believe that sane individuals would believe that a missile was fired at a military base so close to the motorcade of the president.
