Pete Buttigieg Sparks Outrage with Comparison: Compares Americans’ Gas Vehicles to Obsolete Landline Phones

Published on

The federal government is stealing an increasing portion of our incomes to fund an administration made up of the most dullards and mendicants ever assembled in Washington, D.C. It’s bad that they spend our hard-earned money on the latest “woke” issues as if the Constitution allows it. It is hard to believe when a Cabinet-level official implies such blatant arrogance and condescension.

Buttigieg, the Transportation Secretary has done it again.

Buttigieg spoke on Fox News in the afternoon of Tuesday when he answered a question about a decline in Tesla sales and other electric vehicles, despite Biden’s administration promoting them.

He said: “Let’s not pretend that the automotive industry isn’t moving towards EVs. When these debates occur, it makes me feel like I’m back in the early 2000s, talking to people who thought we would have landline telephones forever.”

See for yourself below:

It’s hard to know where to start with Pete Buttigieg’s statement, but I will try to get through it.

A $1,000 cell phone is not comparable to a vehicle that costs $60-80,000. In my experience, a cellular telephone may last for three years if you are lucky. It can be purchased with cash or a credit card. A vehicle purchase, for most people, is a more deliberate transaction that requires financing and a vehicle that can last at least a decade.

Second, many people do not live in areas where charging stations for electric vehicles are easily accessible. The Biden administration spent $7.5 billion in taxpayer dollars, your money and mine (if you don’t believe me, stop paying taxes and watch how long it takes the government to send out men with guns looking for you). How many charging stations have been constructed to date? Seven.

Third: Even with the charging issue, there are many places where electric cars are not practical. Your EV’s range will be significantly reduced if it becomes cold. This is a problem for people in upper-tier states in the US, including Washington, Maine, and Alaska. You shouldn’t feel any better if your home is in Alabama or Arizona. The hot weather there also affects you.

Fourth: When cell phones first entered the market, the government did not have to heavily subsidize them to encourage people to purchase them. Cellular phones were compared to landlines for their relative advantages, mainly portability, and with the advent of smartphones, their versatility. The people did not need to be forced to buy them. As markets do when they are left to their own devices, the market worked. Cellular phones became popular because people wanted them.

Pete Buttigieg represents the worst type of “public servant.” He promotes policies that are opposed by most Americans, but he does it for the worst reasons – “for the good of the country” – and is effectively shielded from the worst consequences. He is not fit to hold such an office.

In his book “God in the Dock: Essays on Theology and Ethics” author C.S. Lewis wrote:

A tyranny that is sincerely exercised to benefit its victims could be the most oppressive. It is better to live with robber barons rather than omnipotent moral busybodies. It is possible that the robber baron will sometimes fall asleep, and his cupidity can be satisfied at some point. But those who torture us for our good will continue to torment us because they are doing so with their approval. They may be more likely to be in Heaven, but at the same time, they may also be more likely to create Hell on Earth.

Lewis was not, of course, writing about Pete Buttigieg, or the Biden administration. But he may well have been. He certainly foresaw them.
