On Tuesday, two of the children of late Senator Robert F. Kennedy Sr. announced that they will support the Republican candidate for the Los Angeles district attorney race. Rory Kennedy and Max Kennedy, the daughter and son of RFK Sr. have stated that they support George Gascon, current L.A. district attorney, because of Gascon’s policies regarding prosecutors being prevented from taking part in parole hearings of convicted murderers. Gascon’s policies, say the Kennedys, “disregard” the needs of victims. The Kennedys spoke at a Gascon campaign event in support of Nathan Hochman, Gascon’s opponent. They were on the steps of the Hall of Justice. Rory Kennedy said:
“He’s not qualified to be a district attorney.” Gascon prevents his prosecutors from filing charges that they deem appropriate. He boycotts parole and leaves the grieving victims on their own.
Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was one of our nation’s greatest leaders and an advocate for the less fortunate who stood strongly against injustice and sought to make our country a better place. The Kennedy children are concerned about the parole hearings and how they were handled. Then-presidential nominee Robert Kennedy was killed in 1968 while attending a campaign function at the Ambassador Hotel, in Los Angeles. Sirhan Sirhan was denied parole 15 times before Gascon’s election. Los Angeles D.A. The hearings were attended by a representative from the Los Angeles D.A. Sirhan’s sixteenth parole hearing took place in 2022 and Gascon refused to oppose his release. The Kennedys were furious, as they had never opposed a Democrat seeking office. The parole board recommended Sirhan’s freedom in 2022 but California Governor Gavin Newsom reversed the decision. Gavin Newsom. Gason’s office did not participate in the 2023 parole board recommendation against Sirhan.
The Kennedy family does not seem to have received much consideration from Democrats in matters relating to the release of convicted killers or general security. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been denied protection by the Secret Service at least three different times, even though the Biden administration is aware of the history of the Kennedy family, which includes not only the assassination of RFK Sr. but also the murder of his brother President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Kennedy says he’s received death threats. In October, an individual was arrested two times on the same date for trespassing in Kennedy’s house.

George Gascon is the most politically active person to have occupied the Los Angeles district attorney’s office for a long time. On Wednesday, a complaint was submitted to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Gascon, the complaint claims, improperly and solely for political reasons dismissed criminal charges in 2022 against Konnech’s CEO because he feared that prosecution would aid Trump’s reelection campaign in 2024. Gascon is also accused of retaliating against the prosecutor who opposed the dismissal of the charges.
The only other occasion in recent memory that the Kennedys may have supported a Republican is during the tenure of former California Governor. Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected to office due to his marriage with Maria Shriver. It begs the question: How bad must you be as a Democrat to get the Kennedys to support your Republican rival in a race, out of all people? George Gascon is the poster boy for this set of criteria.
Nathan Hochman was a federal prosecutor, and defense attorney and ran for Attorney-General in California. He said that on his very first day, “One of my first acts will be to rescind George Gascon’s policy prohibiting prosecutors from attending parole hearings.”
Two children of Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in LA in 1968, are expected to say they oppose Los Angeles DA George Gascón’s re-election because of what they say is his failure to support the families of crime victims, a source says. https://t.co/QClupfwKZ0
