Dark money groups are already trying to influence Alaska’s election months before the vote. Keeping Mary Peltola in place (D-AK), is essential to the Democrats’ attempts to retake control of the House of Representatives. However, Mrs. Peltola does not have Lisa Murkowski this year to attach her campaign sled to.
Enter the Democrat’s House Majority PAC which is heavily funded (amongst others) by George Soros and Nancy Pelosi, and their sponsorship for a shady “Vote Before Party” group. It’s a bit rich to have people from outside Alaska telling Alaskans “Vote Alaska.” Suzanne Downing of Must Read Alaska has all the details.
A shady group named “Vote Alaska before Party” just reserved almost $4 million worth of television ads in Alaska for the fall. This shows the Democratic Party’s concern over Rep. Mary Peltola’s ability to hold on to her seat. The ads are all in support of Peltola.
Vote Alaska Before Party is a subset within the House Majority PAC of the Democratic congressional caucus. This PAC was the biggest donor to Vote Alaska Before Party for 2022.
The House Majority PAC proudly announced to the major media last week its $186,000,000 in ad purchases. It mentioned cities such as Phoenix and Portland.
Ads haven’t yet started to flow, but they soon will.
“We only need four seats back to regain the majority.” “That’s all,” Mike Smith told CNN, the president of House Majority PAC. It’s going to be a tough four seats. Each of these will be a trench war. We will have to spend a lot of cash, so the $186 million is necessary, but we can do it.
CNN continued: “Nothing was reserved for Mary Peltola in Alaska, but Smith said that each media market had a unique set of circumstances dictating the timing of an ad purchase, suggesting Alaska would be at the top of the list later in the cycle.”
Alaska was left out because Alaskans are notoriously against Outside money, especially that of Nancy Pelosi and George Soros, interfering in Alaska elections. House Majority PAC tried to stay under the radar. The Vote Alaska before the Party group reserved media buys. And while the cash transfer has not been reported on federal reports yet, this kind of money is coming from the House Majority PAC.
Soros is once again at the forefront of yet another leftist group that’s trying to manipulate a campaign.
Suzanne Downing has a lot of good points, but the most important is that Alaskans are resentful when people try to change their lives or politics. Alaska is funny in many ways. It’s a red state that is more libertarian and less conservative. Alaskans are fiercely independent, but also somewhat insular. Alaskans who have never visited or lived there have some hilarious ideas of what it’s like to live in the Great Land. This is nowhere more evident than here.
The Democrats, along with their House Majority PAC, are squatting forward, eager to keep Mary Peltola’s seat. However, they will face an uphill struggle this year, even though the confusing ranked-choice voting system is still in effect.
Bringing PAC money from a group that is openly supported and endorsed by Soros and Pelosi to Alaska may be a bad decision for Mary Peltola and for the Democrat’s chances of regaining a majority in the House.
