The former president Donald Trump, who is now a Republican candidate for President, wished his wife Melania “a very happy birthday” on Friday morning and said that he couldn’t spend time with her due to his “rigged trial”.
Trump spoke with reporters just moments before entering the courtroom to continue his criminal trial for falsifying business documents.
“I would like to wish my wife Melania an extremely happy birthday,” Trump said, “It would be nice to have her with me but I am in a courthouse because of a rigged case.”
Yesterday’s proceedings “went very well,” and his trial “should have been over,” said the former president, who is also the presumptive Republican candidate for 2024.
Trump took a swipe at Judge Juan Merchan, saying, “I think that we have a very conflicted judge, who will never let the case end positively.”
He called his attorney’s arguments brilliant at the Supreme Court hearing held on Thursday on his claim to presidential immunity.
“I thought it was great,” Trump said. Trump stated that he thought the questions asked by the judge were excellent. Trump said that all presidents must have immunity. It has nothing to do with me.
Trump said to reporters that he would return to Florida to be with his family after today’s trial concludes.
