Whistleblower Reveals Heartbreaking Accounts on Dr. Phil: Gender Clinic Patients Begged to Reverse Surgeries

On Thursday, a whistleblower from a children’s gender clinic told Dr. Phil she had seen regretful patients asking to restore their body parts after surgery.

Jamie Reed, a former employee of the Washington University Transgender Center, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, wrote a long expose about gender clinics at children’s hospitals last year, calling them “morally and scientifically appalling.” Dr. Phil Primetime asked Reed, a queer woman who was married to a person of transgender identity, why she changed her mind.

She said, “Several things.” “We began to see patients with severe medical injuries being rushed into the emergency room and lacerations that required stitches. Patients contacted us begging for body parts to be put back in place within months after having surgery.”

She continued, “Every time I raised concerns, asked about protocols, and asked about guidelines, this is how the industry operates, if a kid says they are trans, there is no questioning.” We simply say “Yep, that’s you, what do you want?”

Reed was in charge of patient intake and supervision during her tenure at the hospital from 2018 to 2022. She stated that the majority of young people who walked in received hormone prescriptions, which can have life-altering effects such as sterility.

“You are telling me that 12- or 13-year-olds who cannot decide what pajamas to put on can come in and say, “I’ve decided I want to be transgender,” and in just a few hours or two sessions — not even two hours, but two visits — say, “Okay, you can start doing that, or taking that, or starting to take this,” which changes their biochemistry to a point that they can never recover from?” Dr. Phil asked.

“Correct,” Reed affirmed.

Reed stated that transgender kids are 10 times more prevalent and they are mostly young teenage girls who want to be men.

She argued that girls are very aware of the trends they see in their surroundings, especially on social media, and among their peers, to the extent that girls from the same class will come together to request procedures.

Reed said that many parents could not remember the same thing.

There were few written guidelines or protocols. She said that one provider even said, “We were flying the airplane as we built it.”

“I saw a teenager who begged to have her breasts reattached after surgery. We were told not to make it a big issue and to not tell any other families. I couldn’t keep quiet about it,” she said.

After Reed made his public announcement last year, many prominent figures called for an investigation into the trans clinic.

In February 2023 Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that his office launched a multiagency investigation of the Washington University Pediatric Center for Transgender Children.

“There were very few written protocols or guidelines. One of the providers even said ‘We were flying the plane as we built it.’ Doctors are acting like they’re God when it comes to medically transitioning children,” she said.

“I saw a teenager who begged to have her breasts put back after surgery. We were told not to make it a big issue and not to tell other families. “I couldn’t keep quiet about it,” she said.

Several prominent people have demanded an investigation into the trans clinic after Reed made his public announcement last year.
