Remember the time when Germany committed crimes against Jews? A lot has changed since then.
According to the Daily Mail, Germany has threatened to detain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu upon his arrival in the country.
Steffen Hebestreit, spokeswoman for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday that Germany would “abide” by the law and arrest the Israeli leader under fire if he visited an EU country.
The British prosecutor Karim K Khan announced on Monday that he was requesting warrants against Netanyahu, Israeli Defense minister Yoav Galant and three terror officials of Hamas. Among them, Yahya Singwar, the Gaza ruler responsible for the October 7 attack.
Hebestreit, what “law” are you referring to?
As I reported on Wednesday, the International Criminal Court, a group of unelected bureaucrats who have declared themselves to be the world’s law enforcement agency, has issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu and three Hamas leaders.
Germany is among the 123 nations who have ratified the Rome Statute and granted the ICC jurisdiction on its territory. Israel, who did not sign and accept the document, does not acknowledge its power in that region. Israel has no right to ask for an arrest because it’s not a member of the ICC.
If he enters a country that grants the ICC jurisdiction, he must be arrested by local law enforcement officials and brought to the ICC’s headquarters to face trial.
The ICC, on the other hand, has the power to arrest and prosecute a leader of a country who refuses to recognize the International Criminal Court.
It is not necessary to stress how dangerous it would be to hold a world leader who refuses to recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC while he’s overseas. It looks like a war is about to break out. But bureaucrats are never trusted with too much info.
Also, it’s worth noting that arrest warrants for despots such as Kim Jong Un from North Korea have never been issued. These are people who have committed horrendous crimes against humanity.
The Daily Mail reported that Ron Prosor expressed his disapproval at Germany’s decision to uphold the ICC warrant against Netanyahu.
Prosor wrote the following Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter): “This outrageous!” The German “Staatsrason”, without any ifs and buts, is now being tested.
This is in stark contrast with the empty remarks made by some political figures and institutions. As soon as we defend ourselves, our options become limited. The public declaration that Israel is entitled to self-defense loses credibility.
The term Staatsrason refers to Germany’s long standing defense of Israel, as announced by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a 2008 speech at the Knesset.
Prosor continued, “The Chief Prosecutor has demonized and delegitimize Israel and the Jewish People by equating Hamas with a democratic Government.”
Prosor pleaded with Germany to not carry out the ICC warrant and they should have listened to him. It is not a good thing for Germany. They should have learned long ago that exterminating the Jewish people was a terrible act and they shouldn’t punish them for defending themselves. It’s not just because the warrant appears absurd at first glance.
