The European Union has been thrown into chaos after a string of right-wing wins on Sunday. As we reported, several “nationalist” (a term used by the media to denigrate) parties gained seats in the EU Parliament. This marked a dramatic shift from the socialist ruling classes.
Emanuel Macron dissolved France’s parliament and called for snap elections, realizing his coalition was completely rejected. In Germany, the situation was not much better for the left. The Alternatives for Germany Party made gains while the center-right Christian Democrats won the night.
The Social Democrats in power were devastated. Some media outlets called it “humiliating” or “a crushing blow.” The left-wing party received only 16 percent of votes, its lowest total in an election nationwide in more than a century. The situation is so bad, that some predict that the government coalition may collapse.
Other right-wing political parties from Italy, Belgium, and Spain also made gains. One thing is certain: Europeans have begun the long, difficult march back from the abyss.
It’s not easy to make long-term changes. A civilization cannot dig so far before it is increasingly difficult to escape. For decades, Europe has been attempting to commit continental suicide with its immigration and economic policies.
The “refugees”, or tens of millions, flooded into Europe with little to no oversight. They didn’t want jobs and were not looking to assimilate. It would be unfair to paint a broad brush but many immigrants came to make sweeping cultural changes that were damaging, regardless of their intentions. Islamists have long sought to gain power by outlasting their opponents and growing stronger. They are a protected group due to the oppressive ideology of the far left, and they commit crimes, as well as creating “no-go zones.”
Most Europeans were afraid to react when they saw what was happening around them for many years. Since childhood, they were taught that accepting the superiority of some cultures over others (i.e. Western liberalism and Islamic barbarism are both bigotry. They are finally waking up and realizing the destruction of what was once a safe community.
But it’s not only immigration driving the rightward shift in Europe. It’s more of a general feeling that radical elites benefit while the rest of us are left to languish. The European Union is a dump for pompous idiots who believe it’s their right to “save the world”. They have only caused misery for the world, regardless of whether it is the self-destructive “climate-change” obsession or the ever-increasing encroachment by the state on fundamental liberties.
There are only so many people you can push. The exact line will always change, but it seems that Europe has finally reached it. The latest results of the elections, as well as those in recent years, show that its citizens are ready to change. The question remains. Was Europe too far into the rabbit hole before it could find a way out?
