Robert Reich expressed his concerns about the debate between Trump and Joe Biden in an op/ed in 2016.
He is speaking for many leftists who are worried about the Orange Man Who Is Bad winning the elections in 2024.
In an article, Reich stated that he was “less concerned that Joe Biden would suffer a mental slip or physical slip than I am about Biden looking weak and Donald Trump appearing strong. ”
Trump has presented the election as a competition between strengths and weakness in an attempt to convince Americans of Trump’s pugnacity and tenacity. Humility and honesty are seen as signs of weakness.
Reich started talking about character. This is another remnant of the 2016 campaign. Reich accused Republican figures of being fearmongers.
Let’s now talk about character. I immediately think of Governor George Wallace and Rush Limbaugh. Also, I immediately think of Rush Limbaugh and Governor George Wallace.
They all had the attitude and personality of barnyard bullies.
Donald Trump is the worst.
Trump is hated for all his characteristics, including his lies, desire to divide Americans, and demeaning women and disabled people.
To call conservatives “fearmongers” is to ignore the fact that Democrats claimed that Trump’s election would destroy the nation. The Democrats took fearmongering a step further by saying that Trump was a threat to democracy.
She was taken off the air.
Fear of politicians is not a new phenomenon. Reich is well aware of the problem. However, his partisan blinders prevent him from seeing the truth.
Both men are elderly but one has more energy than the other.
Biden’s confidence and strength are lacking. Reich, however, appears to misinterpret that.
In an article, Reich recalled a conversation he had with a conservative young man. The conservative said that America needed an “odious terrorist” like Trump to fight the “odious terrorist” of other nations.
He said that Xi Kim, Ali Khamenei, and Putnam were all odious thugs. We must have our odious terror to combat these thugs.
I declined, saying a confrontation might lead to further bloodshed or nuclear warfare.
He said, “We need a thug who will shake Washington and all bureaucracies that are destroying America. And we’ll do things no one else dares to do. ”
He said, “We need someone in control!” “When I appeared skeptical.”
A ruler would have made the conversation more interesting.
This is not how I think many Americans are attracted to Trump. It’s consistent with the strength-versus-weakness framework Trump is deploying.
We need strength, not weakness.
Doesn’t this passage seem opportunistic to you? Contrary to Reich’s remarks, the majority of Trump’s supporters do not want a dictator. They want someone who is a strong leader internationally and can address the issues that Biden either hasn’t addressed or has refused.
Trump can be dangerous to his opponent if he dominates the debate. If he doesn’t make mistakes or leave, he will make it.
