John Kennedy, R-LA is a national jewel. He has proven this time and again with his work in the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has exposed the left-wing activism and ignorance of Joe Biden’s judicial nominees on it.
One of the nominees, Spokane County Superior Court judge Charnelle Bjelkengren, asked that her name be removed from consideration after Kennedy embarrassed her with questions regarding the Constitution.
Kennedy, fortunately for us and America, is still at it. This was evident during his questioning on Thursday of two other Biden judicial nominations, Nashville attorney Karla Campbell and Maine Superior Court Judge Julia Lipez.
Campbell is Biden’s nominee for U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Campbell, who had repeatedly denied Kennedy’s accusations that she lied about her involvement with a leftist activist group called Workers’ Dignity to Republicans on the Committee (which Texas Senator Ted Cruz described as an “openly Marxist organisation”), finally admitted that she was associated with Workers’ Dignity in its early days.
She also said the following at another time during the hearing.
She told lawmakers that she was on the advisory board of a workers’ rights group that had been set up at the time. However, she said that the group has not been active in recent years because they have “strayed into politics, instead of staying true to their original mission, which is to support workers.”
Lipez, Biden’s nominee to the U.S. 1st Circuit Court of Appeals was humiliated by Kennedy after he grilled her about a case of child sexual abuse. She dodged questions and twisted and turned around them about what she had said about the child predator as well as how she sentenced him.
A monster molested 4- and 9-year-old girls.
Lipez called him “a person who has a lot of good in him” and suspended half of his jail sentence, giving him only 6 years behind bars.

What else did Lipez say about Michael T. Smith at the time?
Lipez, at a sentencing hearing in March 2023, reduced Smith’s 12 year sentence to 6 and praised him for being a “good person”.
Lipez stated during the hearing that people are complex. I have been given very little information as to why or how this happened. What I can tell you is that it is a tragic situation where a man who is very good has done something very reprehensible to two children.
According to The Sun Journal, the sentence was reduced after Smith’s victims spoke out about their trauma and the long-term effects of the abuse. They described night terrors, flashbacks and appetite loss.
We do not need judges who are lenient in sentencing sexual abuse cases involving minors. Joe Biden’s nomination of Lipez is a sign of his character, none good. Kennedy, Cruz and other GOP senators should be commended for exposing her record.
