Better late than never. Snopes has finally verified the facts seven years after Joe Biden’s election.
Biden claimed that he decided to run against Donald Trump because the former president had allegedly praised neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017. Trump’s comment about “very nice” people on both sides was the issue.
It is now a left-wing canon that Trump “praised neo-Nazis”. Even in 2024, the White House will continue to repeat this allegation. But it’s not true.
Snopes, for reasons that are not immediately obvious, decided to correct the record one week before the first presidential debate in 2024. The Democrats are fuming.
No, then-President Donald Trump did not call neo-Nazis and white supremacists “very fine people” in 2017. Speaking about a deadly protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, he said those groups should be “condemned totally.” https://t.co/AHjw0mwl3i pic.twitter.com/TtCH1BzZja

After investigating these claims, we found that while Trump did say there were “very nice” people on both sides – the protesters and the counterprotesters, he also condemned white nationalists and neo-Nazis outright. He said he was specifically referring to those who were there only to participate in a monument protest. Below is a transcription.
Kat Abu has some words about the recent termination of Media Matters.
Snopes is claiming Trump didn’t call neo-Nazis at Charlottesville “very fine people” — instead, he was referring to “protesters and counter-protesters”.
Hey, @snopes, if you’re at a protest led by a neo-Nazi on the side of the neo-Nazis, guess what that makes you. pic.twitter.com/gCKPQb7gid

Snopes has gone completely off the rails. They published this yesterday, for some reason. pic.twitter.com/XquphwXRoU

The quote, “very fine people” which referred to the now infamous white supremacist rally with the tiki torches, was not referring to that event. He was attempting to describe protesters that came out in the afternoon and weren’t organized by Richard Spencer.
It’s a mystery why Snopes chose to discredit Biden’s argument that he would be the next president of the United States in 2024. Democrats have repeatedly repeated this false narrative for years.
This is a wonderful gift for Donald Trump.
