It is always easier to look back than forward. When it comes to the security of an ex-President of the United States, and when security lapses have already allowed someone to shoot at that former President, it appears as though someone should have shut the door before the horse left for the far horizons.
The Secret Service has now locked down the Mar-a-Lago Estate of former President Donald Trump.
After last weekend’s attempted assassination, the US Secret Service has increased security at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club.
The Town of Palm Beach informed residents that the 1100 South Ocean Boulevard would be closed for traffic beginning Saturday morning. This will continue “24/7” until at least November’s general elections.
An alert stated that “the US Secret Service made this decision and not the Town Officials or Town Council.” The Town works closely with the US Secret Service to minimize the impact of the road closure.
The alert stated that the Towns of Palm Beach will explore legal options “to ensure that the road is open even if the person(s), who are protected, are not present.”
Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot at the former president Trump on Saturday, 13th July, took a chunk of his ear.
According to reports, there are also plans to increase security at Trump’s famous rallies.
Anthony Cangelosi is a former Secret Service agent who was responsible for the technical security advancements of presidential candidates. He told Business Insider previously that he expected the Secret Service would need “a lot more staff” when Trump speaks in public.
Cangelosi — who is now a Professor at the City University of New York – said that he believes the Secret Service will rely on local law enforcement to provide security for future events.
Cangelosi stated, “It is a false multiplier for these situations.” They know a great deal about the region. They can bring additional personnel. “99% of the time, local law enforcement enjoys participating in the event.
We can only hope that we will get through the remainder of the campaign with no further incidents. Presumably, the Secret Service is going to keep the former and future President away from any inclined roofs.
Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Monday. This should be a very interesting interview. In a rational world, the director would have resigned out of disgrace for the July 13th security failures, but she will also be asked for an update on the protection packages given to each presidential candidate. Since Joe Biden is no longer running for office, he should be relatively easy to protect. He will also likely spend his time dividing his life between his Rehoboth Beach residence and the White House.
The next rally of former President Trump will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday. JD Vance, the vice presidential candidate, will be speaking in Middletown and Radford on Monday. The Secret Service is likely to be looking for lost horses and barn doors that are closed.
