Netanyahu Heads to DC—But Biden Meeting Axed Last Minute

Amid all the turmoil in America following Biden’s decision to abandon his re-election campaign, and the failed assassination against GOP nominee Donald Trump, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu left for Washington, D.C. on Monday, where he would meet with Biden and give a speech before Congress.

It appears that he will not be meeting the lame-duck president since Biden has reportedly still been recovering.

The Times of Israel reports that the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not likely take place tomorrow because Biden is still sick with COVID-19. A source within the entourage of the prime minister confirms this.

The White House said that Biden was quarantining himself in Delaware, and would return to Washington DC once he tested negative. They did not provide a specific timeframe.

We reported that the White House doctor gave Biden an unqualified clean bill of health on Monday. However, he has not made any public appearances in the past few weeks, so it’s unclear how he is doing.

The pro-Hamas crowd in the States continues to criticize the Jewish state over the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Netanyahu, who had clashed with the President in the past on many occasions, offered Biden kind words regarding his decision to drop his bid for the presidency.

Netanyahu said, “This is an opportunity to express our gratitude for all that he has done for Israel during the war and throughout his distinguished and long career as a senator, vice president, and president.”

Netanyahu, in a bipartisan manner, said that he wanted to remind the US, “Regardless of who the American people elect as their next President, Israel will remain its most indispensable and strong ally in the Middle East.”

He’s bound to say it; he doesn’t want to be a Biden fan, but he wants to maintain the U.S.-Israel alliance. He will have to deal with some lawmakers who are not fond of his looks:

Others welcome the Prime Minister:

The month has already been filled with major news stories and Netanyahu’s address will add to that list. It remains to be determined how VP Kamala will react. With her presidential campaign officially announced, and her boss MIA, everyone will be watching her. Some believe she will be less friendly with Netanyahu than Biden.

As the saying goes, “With friends like these…”
