Nancy Mace’s behavior on CNN Friday was a total mess. The liberal network was thrown into chaos after South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace “mispronounced Kamala Harris” during a round-table segment.
Michael Eric Dyson, Keith Boykin, and others took the initiative in “correcting” Mace when she made policy statements that were completely unrelated to them. The national press was exposed as being shallow and uninformed.
Here’s a clip of one of the meltdowns.
Please forgive me for failing to transcribe this cluster. When people shout over someone, as was the case here with Mace, it’s nearly impossible to get things right. Dyson and Boykin, who can’t see the video, lose their mind, saying that Harris is mispronouncing her name “on purpose.” This is a crazy reaction to a slight difference in pronunciation.
The difference is whether you say “Comma-la”, “Ca’ma’la” or both in the clip above. Who cares? What’s the big deal? Harris’s name is of Indian origin. It is difficult for an English speaker to pronounce her name in the same way as she does, let alone remember which letters to emphasize within the phonetics. It would take some time to “correct” someone else on this matter.
Even the people who say “everything’s racist” would find this ridiculous. I understand that Dyson and Boykin are making a living by promoting racial grievances but come now. Democrats refer to Republicans as fascists and have 25 different ways of referring to Trump. I don’t think it is as serious to misspell Harris’s name.
America is facing real problems. Are people who live paycheck-to-paycheck worried about how Mace pronounces Kamala Harris? Dyson and Boykin never complained about inflation. But if someone doesn’t put the right sauce on the “a” of Harris’s name, they go berserk. This shows how out of touch the press is. The press is hung up with irrelevance and double standards, while the normal people roll their eyes.
