Democratic Official’s Teen Son Arrested for Alleged Hate Crime

The son of a local Democratic Party official has been identified as a teenager who was arrested on August 23rd for vandalizing a primary school with swastikas and racist slurs.

According to Amy Reichert, the 15-year-old son of Marquetta Brown, a Democratic National Convention Delegate and San Diego Democratic Party Central Committee member, has been charged with defacing school property at least three times.

It is common to keep the identity of minors in investigations secret. However, this information has now become public due to a restraining court order that was filed by San Diego Superior Court and granted for two years.

When the first graffiti was found on August 18, the investigation began.

Chula Vista Police said that a teenager was arrested on Friday for allegedly repeatedly vandalizing a school with graffiti, including racial insults and swastikas.

Police said that the first set of markings was found on Aug. 18, on walls, doors, and a large mural in Enrique Camarena Elementary School on Exploration Falls Drive. After parents and staff had spent several hours covering and cleaning the graffiti the next day, a new writing similar to the first was discovered at the front of campus.

Police said that security measures had been implemented but, on Wednesday, staff reported more hateful graffiti in the back of the school. The markings included racial insults against multiple races and were estimated to cause thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Police said that after an extensive investigation, a 15-year-old boy was arrested for the incident at 7 pm during a high school football match in the area. Investigators also served a warrant on his Chula Vista residence, which is not far from an elementary school. The teen faces felony charges of vandalism and hate crimes.

Marquetta Brown, a black woman is the mother of a son who appeared to have committed a hate crime hoax. This has been a trend in America for many decades. Jussie Smollett, who staged a Chicago incident where he alleged that supporters of Donald Trump’s former presidency assaulted him, was the most prominent example.

Why some people pull these hoaxes is hard to determine. Maybe they want attention. They may think that they are bringing attention to a serious issue. It is harmful to the victims of hate crimes because it minimizes their significance.
