Many people have strong opinions about former President Donald Trump. Many of these opinions are centered on his personality which has some quirks.
Most people who don’t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome know that, in addition to his “mean tweets,” and occasional bluffing and blustering, Trump has a good sense of humor and great comedic timing.
Trump’s humor was evident as he addressed a rally on Wednesday in Asheville (North Carolina). His remarks were primarily focused on the economy.
And, like all good speakers/entertainers, Trump came prepared — with props.

Trump, while rummaging around in his jacket pocket, remarked that:
I have something in my hand — I do have something — and I will show it to you…wait…a minute. I don’t think you’ve ever seen this. I’ve used it before. Oh, I’ve got it — I do! Take a look!
So…this is TicTacs, right? [holds up a box of TicTacs; peers at it] I don’t know if I like the company — I’ve never met, I have no idea — they’re so lucky, they’re so — look at all the television, they’re so… [gestures to the cameras] This is the greatest commercial they ever had! [holds up much smaller box of TicTacs with other hand]
But that’s what happened! This is inflation. This is TicTac. [waves hand with smaller box in it] This is TicTac. [waves hand with larger box in it] This is inflation. This is what’s happened.
Someone gave me one of these today. [holds the smaller box] “I think we will put it up as a good example of inflation.”
Trump then became serious and said, “But, you know what?” The inflation is ruining our country – it’s destroying families.”
It’s true, he is right. Inflation has been a destructive force in American lives over the last three and a half years. This, indeed, should not be laughed at.
This moment in his speech showed him at his most funny and brought genuine laughter from his audience. I prefer belly laughs to nervous giggles. Just as I would prefer a Trump-led economy to a Biden and Harris economy.
