Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested by Federal Agents in New York Shocker

Published on

The U.S. Attorney’s Office of New York announced that Sean “Diddy Combs” was arrested on Monday.

According to a source familiar with the case, he was arrested at the hotel lobby in New York City. The person described his arrest as a surprise. Combs lived at the hotel in question for several weeks according to a source familiar with the investigation.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed, in a press release, that federal agents arrested Combs on Monday night, based upon a sealed indictment submitted by the Southern District of New York.

Williams stated, “We expect to move the unseal of the indictment this morning and will have further to say then.”

Marc Agnifilo, Comb’s attorney, expressed his disappointment in a press release. He said Combs was cooperative during the investigation, and that he “voluntarily moved to New York in anticipation of these allegations” last week.

The statement read: “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has spent 30 years building a music empire, adoring and supporting his children, and working to elevate the Black community.” “He may be imperfect, but he’s not a criminal.”

It added: “These are acts of an innocent person with nothing to conceal, and he is looking forward to clearing his reputation in court.”

Combs’ arrest was not immediately made clear.

Combs is facing a wave of lawsuits – one of which was filed last week – accusing him of sexual misconduct and assault since November when his former girlfriend Casandra Ventura sued him at federal court accusing him of years of abuse.

Ventura was signed by Combs Bad Boy label. She is better known as Cassie. They settled the lawsuit the day after it had been filed without revealing the terms. Combs’ attorney said that the settlement did not constitute an admission of wrongdoing. He had previously denied the accusations.

Since then, several others have filed lawsuits, including Dawn Richard who claimed he groped her and threatened to beat Ventura brutally when she worked for him between 2005 and 2012. Combs has strongly denied the allegations in the lawsuits. He said they were “sickening accusations” made by people who wanted “a quick payout.”

In May 2016, after CNN released hotel security footage of Combs punching, kicking, and throwing Ventura to the ground in a Los Angeles hotel hallway, he apologized via a video on Instagram, saying that his behavior was “inexcusable”, and he had sought out therapy. Later, the video was removed from his Facebook page.

Richard, a former member of the girl band Danity Kane that Combs created on the MTV reality show “Making the Band” and then the group Diddy – Dirty Money sued Combs in court last week.

He is considered a pioneer in hip-hop fashion and media. He created the Sean John apparel line and launched Revolt TV. Combs’ net worth was estimated to be $1 billion.

Combs’ lawsuit against Richard was described by an attorney as “shocking and disappointing” at the time.

Investigators from the federal government searched Combs’ homes in Miami, Los Angeles, and Miami in March.

A source familiar with the case told us that investigators had interviewed several people regarding allegations of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and the solicitation of and distribution of illegal drugs and firearms.

The Southern District of New York issued the warrant for Combs to be searched.

Combs, who has also gone by such names as Puffy, Puff Daddy, and Love, founded Bad Boy in the early 1990s.
