Joe Biden attended a White House press briefing last Friday. He didn’t attend to talk about Hurricane Helene or to even wish everyone well. He came to boast about his job numbers and answered some questions, then he left.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken continued his tone-deafness on X by posting about the $157 million humanitarian response…to Lebanon and how they are “committed” to helping those in need, as well as delivering essential assistance to displaced citizens. This post was viewed by eight million people on X. Nearly everyone criticized Blinken’s tone-deafness.
Not only that. Samantha Power, the current Administrator of USAID (the United States Agency for International Development), also posted a clueless blog. She wants to know about how “Americans,” [translated: the Biden Administration with our money] keep the lights and heating on in Ukraine.

Power announced they would “double our investment” to replace auto-transformers throughout Ukraine.
Hurricane Helene has killed more than 200 people in the United States. She posts that some are still missing and power is still out, in many places. Roads have been washed away, people have been cut off, yet she still has a post? What about transformers in the areas affected by hurricanes?
There are many questions regarding the government’s response.
On X, the anger was palpable. What was it about being allegedly out of money again for FEMA?
Some people wondered, in response to Power’s comments, if we hated them and if their posts were meant to make us lose elections. Do they not read the room, or are they simply not interested?
Some Americans still don’t have power from Helene. Some Americans have lost everything.
More than 200 Americans dead and thousands devastated.
Infrastructure in Asheville, North Carolina is wiped out.
Total devastation in parts of America.Meanwhile, Samantha Power is doing… https://t.co/HIe9sDrfCb

It’s pretty tone deaf, and frankly insulting, for the U.S. to be boasting about out helping a foreign country “keep the lights and heat on” when, today, tens of thousands of American in N Carolina & elsewhere more urgently need that same help.
