Even though Congress will not be in session until the election on November 5, there is still work to be done. The House Judiciary Committee held a closed-door hearing on Tuesday with former Fulton County Special prosecutors Nathan Wade to gather information about Wade’s relationship and funding of District Attorney Fani Wilis.
Nathan Wade, the former Fulton County Special prosecutor, left Capitol Hill Tuesday afternoon after four and a half hours of intense questioning by investigators from the House Judiciary Committee.
Wade’s legal team includes former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes said very little to the reporters, before, during, and after his deposition behind closed doors. No legislators were seen leaving or entering the room.
Barnes told reporters that the session was over. Barnes said, “This is what I am going to say: we gave our testimony. We cooperated. And we are done.”
The House Judiciary Committee is seeking information about Wade’s relationship to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. She is investigating the alleged efforts of former President Trump to reverse his Georgia 2020 election loss. In August 2023, a grand jury charged Trump and 18 of his allies with charges such as racketeering or conspiracy.
Willis brought Wade into the investigation as a special prosecutor. However, he stepped down after it became known that he had a romantic relationship with Willis, which ended.
It is a miracle that the testimony took place, considering the difficulties investigators had initially in locating Wade to serve him with a Subpoena. Willis then interfered by sending letters to Wade and Jim Jordan (R – OH), the Committee Chair on Friday.
We told you about the mysterious disappearance of Wade in late September. The U.S. tracked him down and finally served him. Marshals. This is also after an odd incident in late August when Willis and Wade appeared on camera at the scene where her daughter was arrested.
Willis informed Jordan and Wade that her office would be asserting any applicable privileges. She also instructed Wade to “not answer any questions” about his role in this case.

Wade may not be able to disclose certain information due to privileges. Willis has outlined them in her letters; I will leave the validity of her assertions to those who are more familiar with Georgia’s law. The extent to which Wade complied with the instructions is unknown. However, it’s clear that some testimony was given as Tuesday’s four-and-a-half-hour deposition was referred to as “a marathon grilling.”
We’ll probably be able to see the testimony at some point — if the committee releases a transcript or if it issues a report about their findings. We’re left wondering until then.
