Authorities said that five people, including three young children, were shot and killed in Washington State on Monday. A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody.
King County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying that deputies responded to reports shortly before 5 am of a shooting in the Lake Alice Road area of Fall City. Fall City is located about 25 miles east of Seattle.
According to the sheriff’s department, three children and two adult victims were found dead. A juvenile suspect is in custody. The sheriff’s department said it was not clear if there was a relationship between the suspect and victims.
The sheriff’s department reported that a person in her mid-teens was hospitalized.
The suspect is expected to be arrested later in the day. The sheriff’s department said that the juvenile could be charged with first-degree or even second-degree murder.
The sheriff’s office said that there were no prior reports of police activity at the home where the shooting took place.
Snoqualmie School District Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt stated in a press release that although the children did not attend district schools, counselors and support personnel would be on hand to help those who needed them.
He said: “We understand that such events can affect us all, including our students.”
